I mean, in practice every single example of this which has been attempted throughout history has been explicitly racist, so not a great track record.

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Also the insane environmental damage Israel has wrought upon Gaza on top of the incredible human suffering is a massive ecocide in itself.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

This is potentially unpopular but I think the state pension triple lock is a good thing and I'm disappointed to see it weakened. It should be possible in a civilized country to properly fund pensions AND to provide for a national care service, not make it an either/or problem.

The musical alters the lyrics of songs from the film to include such lines as "Two dozen total strangers live in two small rooms, You hold a revolution and here’s the price you pay." It's not like the film wasn't critical of the Bolsheviks, but being anti-Communist wasn't the point of the film.

This may be common knowledge but I just discovered 1. there's a musical version of Anastasia (1997), and 2. the musical completely alters the plot to remove Rasputin as the villain and instead replaces him with a Bolshevik general. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anastas...

An actual good thing from Burnham? If this gets legislated before 2029, it effectively locks Reform/Conservatives into either minorities or fractured coalitions. If he tries to run on "vote for PR in 2029", it will be a disaster.

This is a line from a BBC article on this story. "Defensive" strikes is just pure propaganda and the official US government line, not a factual statement. It's exhausting to even attempt to complain about this.
A line from a BBC News article reading: "The base shares a long history with the American military, and has recently be used by US warplanes as a staging post for defensive strikes on Iran."

Gareth @gareth.entertainium.co · 27/09/2026
Trump has literally never even heard of RAF Fairford until someone briefed him about it today, that much is patently obvious. I live pretty close to the base; earlier in the year I was hearing quite a few B-52s during the opening part of the Iran War.
