“Eat the rich” is an ideologically reprehensible statement. Proportionally, there just aren’t that many of them. They’re not a viable long-term solution to food insecurity.

An appropriate time to post my #astrophotography image of NGC 2264 - the Christmas Tree Cluster. In this false-color image, ionized hydrogen appears green. True-color version included for comparison. Merry Christmas! #astro #astronomy

Orion is back in the sky, so it's time for a new #astrophotography image of the Great Orion Nebula. This stellar nursery is relatively close to Earth, "only" about 1350 light years away. It's so large and bright that you can actually see it with the naked eye away from cities. #astronomy #astro
M42 - the Great Nebula in Orion, a massive cloud of dust 25 light-years across.

My first proper #astrophotography mosaic of M31 - the Andromeda Galaxy, our largest galactic neighbor. At 2.5 million light years distant, its apparent size is still 6 times wider than the full Moon. Andromeda is much larger than our Milky Way with some estimates suggesting up to 1 trillion stars.
M31 - The Andromeda Galaxy. Originally thought to be a nebula within our own Milky Way, Edwin Hubble discovered it was actually a completely separate "island universe", what we would now call a galaxy.

New #astrophotography target! This is my first time imaging the Heart Nebula. The two lobes are formed by a young open star cluster (IC 1805) in the center. The hot stellar wind blows the ionized hydrogen outward, forming the heart shape. #astronomy #astro
The ionized hydrogen gas of the Heart Nebula cradles a young open star cluster. Some of the stars in this stellar nursery are nearly 50 times the mass of the Sun.

New #astrophotography image of NGC 6823, the Cloud Sculpting Cluster. This is an open cluster of newly formed stars inside a huge cloud of gas and dust. The close grouping of stars creates very strong stellar winds that erode the dust into long finger-like columns. #astronomy #astro
The fierce stellar winds of NGC 6823 erode the surrounding nebula into delicate and eerie shapes.

My latest #astrophotography image of Sharpless 101, the Tulip Nebula. It lies about 8,000 light years from earth in the constellation Cygnus. If you look in the lower right of this photo, the two bright stars mark the location of Cygnus X-1, the first black hole ever discovered. #astronomy #astro

My new #astrophotography image of the Crescent Nebula. Although it may look similar to a supernova remnant, this nebula's source is a Wolf-Rayet star, a type of star with incredibly strong stellar winds that continually belch gas and dust away at high speeds. #astronomy #astro

My latest #astrophotography image of the M33, the Triangulum Galaxy. At 2.73 million light-years distant, this is our second nearest neighboring galaxy and the 3rd largest in the Local Group that includes the Milky Way and Andromeda.
M33 - The Triangulum Galaxy. At about 60,000 light years across, it is smaller than the Milky Way. Active areas of star formation can be seen as bright clusters nestled within the dust of the spiral arms.

My new #astrophotography image of the Dumbell Nebula. This type is a "planetary nebula" due to its shape, but it has nothing to do with planets. It is actually a supernova remnant, the shell of gas and dust emitted by the violent explosion at the end of a star's life. #astro #astronomy
M27, the Dumbell Nebula. Expanding ionized red and green gas emitted in a supernova expand ever-outward from the white dwarf stellar remnant visible in the center.

Getting really excited for the return of the Winter sky. In anticipation, I went and re-stacked and re-processed all of my old Horsehead nebula photos into one. This represents about 5.5 hrs of imaging time. Amazed I can get a view like this from my backyard. #astrophotography #astronomy #astro
IC 434 - The Horsehead Nebula. A dark silhouette of interstellar dust dominates the view. Around it, dozens of young stars form in this stellar nursery.

I'm digging how this WWII guide is basically "gum up fascism by being an energy vampire." Let Colin Robinson be your guide in the fight against fascism. The link: www.404media.co/declassified...
From a WWII handbook on being a bad at job to roadblock fascism. Here's the text: “Bring up irrelevant issues as frequently as possible.”
“Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions.”
“‘Misunderstand’ orders. Ask endless questions or engage in long correspondence about such orders. Quibble over them when you can.”
“In making work assignments, always sign out the unimportant jobs first. See that the important jobs are assigned to inefficient workers of poor machines.”
“To lower morale and with it, production, be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. Discriminate against efficient workers; complain unjustly about their work.”
“Hold conferences when there is more critical work to be done.”
“Multiply paperwork in plausible ways.”
“Make mistakes in quantities of material when you are copying orders. Confuse similar names. Use wrong addresses.”
“Work slowly. Think out ways to increase the number of movements necessary on your job”
“Pretend that instructions are hard to understand, and ask to have them repeated more than once. Or pretend that you are particularly anxious to do your work, and pester the foreman with unnecessary questions.”
“Snarl up administration in every possible way. Fill out forms illegibly so that they will have to be done over; make mistakes or omit requested information in forms.”
