SH2 - In the final game, the "Burning Man" painting depicts the Lakeview Hotel on fire, foreshadowing its real fate. However, in a prototype build and in the Art of Silent Hill DVD, there is a painting of a ghoulish Mary above a town street.

Burning Man painting in Silent Hill 2. It's a wireframe depiction of the Lakeview Hotel, but it has been painted with red and orange to make fire over it.

Comparison between the jail cell in the prototype and the final game. The Burning Man painting replaces the early painting in the final game. There are no other differences in the cell.

Re: relevance in the design: I think it's important that if a player invests in a skill or ability in character creation, the first hour should give you a rewarding way to use it. It's sort of the promise we're making to the player. I think Eric Fenstermaker did a great job in Goodsprings w/ this.

finished Wolverine last night. the game goes from Good to Okay to Excellent act by act, very uneven experience but what a fucking script. Holy Hell! the narrative and character work is so strong in the last few hours that i am left feeling as though it absolved the game of its largest sins.
