ICE just kidnapped a woman at LAX airport Saturday Oct 3, 12:50AM. A community member was able to record when several ICE goons who refused to identify themselves grabbed the woman, put her into a van and then drove off.

The Story of Writing @sownow.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Elie Wiesel was born on this day in 1928. He would want us to remember. And he would want us to resist the authoritarianism that leads to genocide - no matter where it happens.
Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky. Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever. Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live. Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never.

Opening up the bookshop for the day. It rained last night in the pavements are wet, but the sky is clear and blue and the breeze cool. The books wait on the shelves with timeless patience, and the coffee machine chugs and hisses as it warms up.

Autumnal forest floor. Norwich VT, September 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Scape #Nature #ColorADay #RedWed
This image shows a red leaf nestled among decaying woodchips and flat, yellowish brown fungi. The leaf appears just right and above center, and we have a lovely view of the texture of its red surface interspersed with yellowish veins. Its surface is covered with water droplets from recent rain. It lies on a group of low, flat, yellow-brown fungi running from the upper left to lower right. We have a nice view of their mottled surfaces, and occasional hints of the gills on their undersides. To the upper right and lower left are scattered wood chips and in varying shades of dark brown and bluish black. The image is finishing by glimpses of other fungi in the upper right and lower left corners.

“Bongo” Ballpoint pen, pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, and a little colored pencil.

Our man is in trouble this time, reader. Art supplies are scattered around a painting of an abstract cityscape. On the canvas we see a man in a telephone booth making a frantic call to his cat, Bongo. In the foreground, an answering machine is taking his voicemail, [Leave a message at the beep] --- “Bongo, Daddy got stuck in the painting. Go get help, Bongo.” Bongo stands at the base of the easel looking at the phone. Her tail in the air and ears perked up. Whether she’ll be able to help is open to interpretation.

Artist’s note: One of my favorites from the Spooky Pants book. I was playing around with the idea of a painting coming to life (like that guy in Ghostbusters 2) and kind of fumbled my way into this version. I really draw a lot of corded phones. I won’t stop.

We Have Enough Dead Friends
BY LENA OLEANDERSON

Come over. The doors are open,
my flat's a mess and
so is my heart
but the doors are always open.
Come over. I will make soup,
probably from frozen but
the important thing is
we will both eat.

You don't have to be dying,
but if you are,
or you feel like you are,
or if living's been hard,
call me, and I will show up.
It doesn't have to be that bad,
it doesn't have to be bad at all,
but if it is, please call.

Do you want me to do the groceries?
Do you want me to mop the floors?
Do you need to be held;
you don't have to be dying to be held.
If you want me to be there, I want to.

I'm on the bathroom floor again,
and breathing is hard,
and eating's been hard, and sleeping,
the world is a laden thing
rolling around on my chest lately.
Just being alive is heavy tonight,
but we have enough dead friends.
Come over.

I went mushroom foraging yesterday, with a professional guide. We didn’t find all that many edible mushrooms, but it was really fun to learn about a few and explore the temperate rainforest.
Maritime forest with tall trees creating a cainomy and many fallen trees on beds of green moss. A figure with a long beard wearing layers and a raincoat speaks to a group whose heats are just visible. A hand with grey fingernails holds a large yellow/orange chanterelle mushroom. Tall red-toned straight tree trunks with bright green leaves and needles at the time. Bright green moss on the ground.Large mushrooms growing on a fallen log on a bed of green ferns.
