In any event, I think I have sufficiently demonstrated why calling for the collectivization of corporate housing stock is not "anti-constitutional extremism". You may not like it, but the GG explicitly forsees this as a policy option and does not protect unqualified property rights.

It's not the same policy. The two measures pertain to housing, but have nothing else in common, and states can and do make housing policy. The state in this case is just implementing the results of the 2021 referendum, with which it has a legal duty to comply by presenting a draft law.

The court ruled that states cannot pass laws specifically on rent increases, as this is a matter dealt with in federal law. States are permitted to take other measures on housing policy, and regularly do so. The court specifically did not rule on the constitutionality of the measure itself, only

I don't have any objection to either and I think there are good legal grounds to pursue both. Rent stabilization is a legitimate policy goal and obviously in the public interest. Article 15 explicitly permits expropriation "for the purposes of collectivization", arguably, no further goal is needed.

The GG does protect individual property rights from *arbitrary* enfringement by the state, but the notion of *unqualified* property rights is alien to the GG, both in letter and it spirit.
110
no you Foucault @fullenjoyment.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
It isn't. Article 15 was added to the GG by socialists and social democrats in order to enable the collectivization of the means of production as a policy option (and explicitly says so). The GG does not enshine the social market economy (and makes no reference to it), only the "Sozialstaatsprinzip"

New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment. www.nber.org/papers/w35854
Taxing Entrepreneurial Wealth: Evidence from
Norway, 2021-2025
Marius A. K. Ring
WORKING PAPER 35854|
DOl 10.3386/w35854
ISSUE DATE October 2026
Whether imposing higher taxes on business owners adversely affects business activity by constraining investment and inducing capitalist flight is a central question in the ongoing debate on how to tax the ultra wealthy. To shed new light, I exploit a series of related Norwegian reforms during 2021-2024 that increased dividend tax rates, removed migration-related capital gains tax loopholes, and nearly doubled the effective marginal tax rate on business wealth. These reforms spurred international debate and, allegedly, an "exodus" of Norwegian billionaires (Financial Times,
2023). While I document clear effects on migration, these responses are concentrated among the top 0.1% of the wealth distribution and mostly confined to 2022 and 2023. My results indicate that at most 100 individuals left due to the reforms. I find no evidence of significant outmigration or reduced inflows of startup founders or inventors. I estimate that absent any outmigration, wealth tax revenues would have increased by 75% from 2021 to 2024. Reform-driven outmigration lowers the revenue gain to 71.5%. My findings further show that outmigrating owners' firms remain economically active and do not reduce investment. In a broader set of analyses, I examine whether business outcomes are affected, regardless of whether owners outmigrate, since firms may reduce investment both due to liquidity constraints or distortions to owners' savings decisions. I compare firms owned by Norwegian individuals subject to the wealth tax with firms owned by foreigners and other tax-exempt entities. By merging historical ownership data from Orbis with the Norwegian shareholder register, I perform these analyses on both Norwegian and foreign-domiciled firms.
Across settings, I find no evidence that Norwegian-owned firms pay out more dividends or invest less after the reforms,…

Die Linke does not call for "uncompensated seizure of private apartments", but for the compulsory purchase of the housing stock of some large corporate landlords in accordance with article 15 GG. It wouldn't be uncompensated, and it's literally forseen in the consitution.

Was skimming through the Wikipedia page on world records in chess, and this has to be one of the funniest things that’s ever happened in the history of the sport.
The absolute worst result in a simultaneous exhibition was two wins and 18 losses (10%) by Joe Hayden, aged 17, in August 1977. Hayden wanted to set an American record by playing 180 people simultaneously at a shopping center in Cardiff, New Jersey, but only 20 showed up to play. Hayden lost 18 of the games (including one to a seven-year-old). His two wins were scored against his mother and a player who got tired of waiting and left mid-game, thus forfeiting the game.

Cutting global net emissions to zero using existing technical and policy solutions will cost at most a few percent of GDP, with many solutions economically beneficial. Halving global emissions by limiting GDP growth costs about half of the global GDP. Not a tough choice.
