Many people who knew us and called us friend during our marriage still call him friend. Many people in that community still call him friend. Until there are actual consequences for abuse against women en masse, and socially, societally, this is just going to be an ongoing current in our culture.

The result? He found out and his takeaway was that his ex-wife was trying to stir up trouble again by sticking her nose in it; this was mid community drama in public as more and more people came forward about his assaults and emotional abuse. He has never faced any meaningful consequences.

I recall finding out my ex-husband, who had also been abusive toward me, had sexually assaulted at least four other people in an online community he belonged to after the end of our relationship. Privately, I tried to be a space for at least one of his victims to feel and be heard.

This is just such constant background noise in life as a woman that I feel as if I’m becoming desensitized to it. Yeah, no fucking duh people (men, the wealthy, and/or wealthy) don’t care when women are abused at the hands of men.

I don’t know how women have the energy to argue with anyone at this point about how we deserve to be human rather than objects, and that our lives are equally important to whatever meaningless dipshit thing a man who abuses us might accomplish.

My work in retail for ten years (I do back end, so a tremendous amount of manual labor) has left me with carpal tunnel in both wrists, lower back compression, and most impressively, labral tears all over the place in my left shoulder, and early onset AC joint osteoarthritis. I am 39. 🥲
