A long and detailed post directly from DarkMimi's community Discord on the current state of things. Her mom just had two major life-changing surgeries and while she's recovering, Mimi is *not* on her usual caregiving payroll (yes, you can be paid to take care of family with the right setup). But due to the circumstances, she's "out of work" until further notice. She will be streaming on a limited basis and has promoted her Ko-Fi for anyone who can help out in the meantime as she navigates through her mother's recovery and gets her to a point of being able to come home safely.

Bills, groceries and travel expenses are still going to happen regardless of her recovering from not one but TWO surgeries in the span of a week. She had a pacemaker placement surgery and now a major brain surgery that's going to take a long time to recover from. Full details below in screenshot!

TL;DR: Why I'm doing streams again soon BUT only in small doses per week. DarkMama and I need help for the next few months, hopefully not into the wintertime (fingers crossed). Her health took a rapid turn and luckily we caught things before they got untreatable but we're in a bind now.

Sleep has been trash since he died. He went to work, didn't come home. Was sudden and unexpected, he was only 36. All my dreams he was alive with me needing to fix something to keep him alive. They aren't everyday now. 3.5 months as a widow, dreams are finally improving.

I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

I'm sorry, I know this is not your problem, but I just felt like screaming into a void seeing that now Dems may cave and end the shutdown without getting anything they were supposedly fighting for. We've been put through hell for weeks, constantly having our ability to simply feed ourselves dangled in front of our faces, our survival used as a bargaining chip, told it was for a reason. Our suffering would prevent even more suffering and that it would be temporary and worth it to save healthcare for millions. And now it's all for nothing. They stood for nothing. They caused suffering for no reason. They'll cause even more suffering for no reason.

It wasn't 40 million people starving that made them cave. They were willing to put up with that. But the threat of holiday traveling being disrupted seems to be the thing to push them to give in. They have failed everyone. I'm so angry.
