This will be my #tourdefleece26 thread, so mute if you don’t want spinning rambling this month! This is bobbin 1 for a traditional 3-ply of Moon Joy from @fossilfibers.bsky.social ‘s beautiful Artemis TdF kit. This has been an absolute joy to spin!

An espinner with a gradient singles yarn spun in it, the yarn starts at dark red and goes through the rainbow to end at a deep purple.

On the left is a caramel colored yarn. One ply is from 100% merino, and the other ply is the same merino blended with 20% muga silk.

On the right is a pale grey yarn. One ply is 100% Jacob, and the other ply is the same Jacob blended with 20% shed fox fur.

The Fossil Fibers October 2025 fibers blending club. The inspiration picture was vintage painted teacups.

At the top are locks of undyed Texel wool and a bit of silky looking white rose fiber.

On the bottom are dyed locks of Shetland wool in pale blue, pink, and green. There’s also a bit of orangey gold eri silk.

The same fiber after combing and being lashed onto a hackle. The white Texel provides fluffiness, and the silk fiber and eri silk have just been layered on top.

Three nests of hand-combed fiber. The rose fiber and eri silk stand out the most against the background of the white Texel, but bits of the dyed Shetland are noticeable, too.

A spinning wheel bobbin with a 2 ply yarn (this means there are two threads twisted together that make the yarn), the colors change between white, blue-green, and pink. The yarn was dyed by Fossil Fibers to evoke the character Haku from Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli.

What's on my Wheel? A beautiful gradient blue blend of BFL and silk from Fossil Fibers, inspired by Howl of Howl's Moving Castle. I'm aiming for a very light fingering or lace weight 2-ply, and so far it's cooperating really well! #handspinning

Sorry I haven't been here! I'm mostly getting my social media fix from various Discord servers these days. But I'm also spending a lot of time knitting! This Wingspan shawl is really coming along! All handspun yarn. Fun knit, once you have a system to track the short rows and staggered increases.

(The remaining yarn, not pictured, transitions to green) The top edge of the shawl is a semicircle, and it spreads out into two half formed wings. The stitches are arranged to look like feathers, but it's still wrinkled and scrunched in texture. The bottom edge is still on a long knitting needle, with a couple dozen stitch markers separating every feather repeat. Some of the markers are shaped like birds, and there is a silver spinning wheel charm and a blue sheep as well.
