NSPM 7 Defendants Union @nspm7union.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Berger, the historian, said that what makes the project exciting is that it centers on being a defendant. “But it’s also a tragic commentary on where we’re at, with a large swath of people and politics under attack right now,” he said. “We’re all defendants.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

I promise you, there are Democrats in congress right now who still believe it is possible to go back to before Trump. It is not. Republicans are spending Trump’s term as Vought intended. They are intentionally breaking government in as many places as they can to make going back impossible.

This is an important statement people, and especially elected Dems need to really understand. The current Republican project is one of destruction, by design. Yes, they have other goals, in RFK’s case he’s objectively pro-disease, but their primary metric of success is breaking government.

Announcing "our product attracts the kind of people who want to verbally abuse something that can't fight back on a level we've had to address structurally" feels like a little bit of a self-own, tbh, but thankfully I'm not in charge of their marketing.

RFK Jr is funding a grotesquely unethical study on newborn babies in Guinea-Bissau; ethicists, pediatricians, clinical trial experts, & infectious disease experts are calling this horrific trial The New Tuskegee. It is unethical to withhold a life saving intervention from half of newborns FFS.

when emerging technologies are guided by long-termist utilitarianism, the public gets the deaths and doesn't get the benefits, while the Musks and Kalanicks get vast wealth... the current LLM/AI space is different in many ways, but utilitarian arguments should still be a massive, screaming red flag

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the autonomous vehicle developers who most vocally argued that society must accept a certain number of deaths to enjoy the technology's safety benefits (Tesla & Uber ATG) were the only ones who killed people and never actually delivered on their promises

The quality oscillated. It would be terrible and then it would be decent. It definitely felt live comic series story arcs where the characters looked the same but were very different, which at least was true to its roots. It was really damaged by Civil War not coming out mid–season-one.

He’s been getting harassed about this every time he’s been in a public place for over a decade. That’s not motivating. And if he’s neurodivergent in the way that figuring out the plan for doing the thing feels the same as doing the thing, giving the show the outline made writing the rest drudgery.

I think disbelief came in from the general public—including other women—who couldn’t grapple with that level of institutional betrayal. People wanted to believe in the system, so they decided not to believe survivors.

One of my big takeaways from #MeToo was that the primary problem was never that men in positions of power didn’t believe victims. It was that they thought sexual violence is something women deserve.

"We need to raise awareness!" Of what, the word that the most powerful and popular platform for mass communications systematically censor, without anyone even having a comment or complaint about it? That's what we're going to have a conversation about? You think AI platforms even know it exists?

Just bumping into this again with people _reflexively_ using the word "grape" or a 🍇 emoji and not even realizing they're doing it. It's all part of the same system, where the men running these companies make platforms that don't even let people accurately describe the crimes that they enable.

I think guys like this know these are threats when it comes down to it. They certainly know it when they’re angry. But I agree the best case is that he’s willing to act on a whole bunch of self-delusion in order to abuse his position and terrorize a minor in order to coerce romance and/or sex.

I wasn’t going to watch him talk, but I was sitting here wondering what kind of mental gymnastics he was doing to convince himself this was romance or if he knew it was threatening and was into creating fear. Toxic masculinity often frames power displays as romance, so he’s using an old script.

I really do think tech crossed a line at some point between "helping you do the things you want to do" on the one hand, and "helping you do the things tech wants you to do" on the other. At this point, we're all contorting ourselves to live how the tech industry thinks we should be living.

They’re going to pretend everything is fine for as long as possible. They know there’s not a lot of love for the handmaidens of doom once the doom is undeniably upon us. The rich and powerful will discard them once they’re no longer useful and the rest of us have little reason to trust them.
