It's only been two days, but if I had any doubts that California isn't home anymore, they have thoroughly been squashed. I'm just a visitor now, seeing what it's like to live in the US now. Hope the weather cools so I can actually do stuff. Heat + Fibro + CFS aren't friends here either.

This is what I see when I see most men posting about rape culture “blahblahblah good thing I don’t have any rapist friends and am not a rapist and post about rape incidents so therefore I’ve done all the work I need to do!” NO BITCH GET IN THE FIELD AND DISMANTLE THE PATRIARCHY

Love when people claim their heritage and ancestry and just make beautiful things around it. More artists, craftspeople and holders of knowledge please!

Turns out that my paternal grandmother also liked lace, and silk, and green. she left me an old outfit of hers. Wish I’d gotten it when I was younger and could fit into it. Looking forward to seeing more of the dowry my mom collected and hasn’t given me yet.

Them: Why would ANYONE want to 'be a man'? Me: You're mistaking manhood with societal expectations that are rooted in patriarchal patterns. Being a man isn't inherently tied to supporting patriarchy. I knew I was a boy at 4 yrs. old. Women who upheld those patterns told me that wasn't true or okay.

There's a strange freedom in realising that not every problem needs to be solved by you. Sometimes you can help. Sometimes you can listen. Sometimes you can point someone towards a useful resource. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is recognise that this particular thing isn't yours to carry.

Street art in Birmingham is absolutely enchanting. #streetart #mural #birmingham

Mural of a young black woman holding a microphone and rings on her fingers that read LOVE BRUM. Outside a closed up old theatre. Birmingham, UK

Repetition has always been what I end up with. Breathing out after each verse... like when giving life to something. Small chants just work for me. Mostly spoken. My mother and grandmother worked in whispers. Sound was not allowed. #FolkWitchFriday What about you?

The narcs were our neighbours, who we asked to speak to us directly if there were any problems with the cat. Instead, someone cried to management daddy. Hopefully it can be resolved.

Some narc told on our cat and now she can't go on the terrace anymore bc she was "eating the plants." Mind you, Gazelli has no teeth. She wasn't left out unsupervised. And literally NO ONE uses this terrace. Load of jerks. We'll be moving out of the city centre much sooner than we'd hoped.

Disability advocacy is MORE than cost. It is reverence for personhood. Honest compassion. Dignity for those society would prefer to disregard to resist facing their own vulnerability. It is facing the true fragility of life and the corporate disregard for such! Demanding better thru accountability!

In a week's time I will be in California and honestly I don't know how I feel about it. I am excited to see my mom and dog, but I feel a shitton of pressure to see dozens of family and friends who are IMPORTANT to me, after seven to ten years since I last saw anyone.
