Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026The opportunity now is not to mourn an old system, but to rebuild credibility around legal equality as a security strategy. Those who invest early will shape the norms that others eventually depend on. Welcome to the new world, welcome to the TPNW. 010
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026it lowers miscalculation risk, constrains escalation pathways, and creates shared baselines when political alignment is absent. So, treaties like the TPNW are not idealistic relics; they are assets for states navigating systemic change. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026What we are witnessing, from Ukraine to Arctic tensions and tariff threats, is not the failure of rules, but the cost of selectively applying them. In a world where uncertainty is rising faster than trust, international law is one of the few scalable investments available: 110
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Instead, it is built on equal legal commitments, stigmatization of catastrophic risk, and predictability of behavior, exactly the attributes societies, security planners and markets value most in volatile environments. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026International law rooted in equality, reciprocity, and restraint is not a luxury of calmer times. It is risk-mitigation in periods of transition. The TPNW is emblematic of this logic. It does not rely on hierarchy, deterrence asymmetries, bullying, or coercion by “great powers.” 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026At precisely the moment when many states are re-orienting their security strategies, often at the expense of international law, we should be asking a harder question: what actually constitutes a credible long-term security investment? 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026The old model based on that is not coming back, but that does not mean a vacuum must replace it. Yesterday also marked the 5th anniversary of the entry into force of the #nuclearban Treaty (TPNW). 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Speeches at the #WorldEconomicForum2026 , including by 🇨🇦 PM Mark Carney, captured something more nuanced: not nostalgia for a fading order, but a recognition that coercion, spheres of influence, and transactional security arrangements are structurally unstable. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Much has been said recently about the “end of the old world order.” The #Greenland threats, speeches in #Davos, and the strain on multilateralism make many conclude that norms, and international law are replaced by raw power politics. Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 23/06/2025The posession of nuclear weapons and outspending all other nuclear weapons states combined (!) has not deterred attacks against American military bases. Nuclear deterrence is a scam. #Iran #Qatar #Iraq #USattackIran #Trump 010
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025This moment demands clarity. There’s no neutral ground. The TPNW is the only treaty that treats nuclear weapons as what they are: weapons of mass destruction used by aggressors to bully and dominate. Which side is your government on? 000
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025So governments must decide: Will you keep enabling nuclear threats and forever wars? Or will you take a principled stand—against nuclear weapons, against hypocrisy, and for international law? 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025It bans all nuclear weapons, for all states. No exceptions. No impunity. No two-class law. The TPNW offers a credible path to verifiable disarmament and strengthens global norms against the use or threat of nuclear violence. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025The complacency in the system built around the NPT has enabled this: a world where five nuclear states are given legitimacy, while others are punished for civilian nuclear programs. The better norm, however, already exists: the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025This is not just about Iran. It's about whether we allow nuclear-armed states to bomb their way through the world with impunity—again and again. Be it in #Iraq, #Georgia, #Ukraine, #Gaza, now #Iran and elsewhere. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 22/06/2025Are they satisfied with a system that lets some countries keep nuclear weapons forever—creating endless incentives for others to get them too? Or is it time to admit this double standard is broken, outdated and dangerous? 100

Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 13/06/2025We don’t need more deterrence. We need disarmament. The TPNW offers a real, verifiable path forward — for everyone. If this moment proves anything, it’s that nuclear weapons don’t prevent war. They provoke it. It’s time to choose a different path. #TPNW 000
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 13/06/2025As long as some states cling to nuclear weapons, others will seek them. The longer this system persists, the more inevitable it becomes that these weapons will be used by design or mistake. With catastrophic humanitarian consequences for us all. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 13/06/2025The belief that some countries can be trusted with nukes and others can’t is both unjust and unsustainable. This two-tier system fuels resentment, arms races, and instability. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 13/06/2025Worse, the logic of deterrence invites pre-emptive strikes. It makes diplomacy harder. It rewards those who threaten mass destruction with geopolitical power. This isn’t stability. It’s nuclear blackmail. 100
Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 13/06/2025Deterrence is not peace. It’s a gamble. It justifies perpetual risk and incentivizes proliferation. The logic of "security through terror" doesn't hold. 100

Florian Eblenkamp @florianeblenkamp.bsky.social · 14/05/2025Spreading nuclear weapons over Europe as a "reassurance" is a contradiction in terms. If anything such a move invites an accelerated arms race and suddenly we have to compete with Russia on a field where we cannot win. It's a bad idea to go down the path of nuclear proliferation out of panic. 010
