I was watching with my husband that evening and we said the same thing. Sandra Sully is imprinted on my brain from that night.

Ugh, and here comes that weasel Tony Abbott. What a grim reminder of how horrible the LNP has been at its core for more than four decades. #Tampa #auspol

The Howard govt made us a harsher, crueller country. And those little worms used the 9/11 tragedy to its fullest extent.

I have maintained my loathing of John Howard, but my god, I forgot how much I detested Alexander Downer. Watching #tampa reminds me of how awful he really is, just an appalling human being. They made Australia a harsher, crueller place. #auspol

What did we THINK was going to happen? Warnings since 1953 (Gilbert Plass) that we were playing with fire. Louder until the late 1970s when the scientists started saying the shit would hit the fan soon. Since 1988 we've played games of pretend. Can't anymore. insideclimatenews.org/news/1706202...

Warmer winters cause havoc for natural systems. Here's some examples from New Zealand. There'll be similar stuff happening in Australian ecosystems and agricultural systems. theconversation.com/warming-wint...
theconversation.com
Warming winters are changing NZ’s landscapes, bringing insect pests, smaller fruit and carbon loss
Warmer winters mean insect pests like wasps will likely spread further, while weedy plants and rats invade alpine zones, shrinking the refuge for endangered birds.

Sometimes I think about the timing of the Avenger MCU movies in the 2010s, and Musk’s surge in notoriety, and conclude that far too many journalists and the general public desperately wanted too much of that fantasy to come true. The 2010s are going to be studied sociologically for decades.

It’s mad framing. I’m in the Victorian high country. It’s meant up be cold. We should be having frosts! People who want nothing but warm weather should move to the tropics. The rest of us like to experience cold weather when it’s meant to be cold! Pity the poor fauna and flora ☹️

It’s easier when you understand that they loathe women so much that deep down they’re disappointed that they are sexually attracted to women at all. If they were gay it would be so much easier for them to remove women from their lives altogether, except to use as human incubators and maid services.

Looking forward to photos of Andy from the late 70s emerging where he’s just giving a friendly wave to the photographer like this chap 🙄
Photograph of a group of British skinheads from the early 80s wearing jeans with rolled up cuffs, Doc Marten boots, suspenders over white t-shirts and denim jackets. They are all sporting buzz cuts and giving the photographer various finger gestures of the bird and the forks… except the guy who is front and centre wearing a Union Jack on his t-shirt. That one is giving a Nazi ‘Heil Hitler’ salute.
A male pedestrian walking by on the right is giving them all side-eye because back then we all knew what these thugs were fucken on about and that a Nazi tattoo and a Nazi salute meant they were fucken racists.

He was up the front of the plane telling flight attendants he wanted to “go out for a ciggie”… There’s been a rash recently of passengers who’ve had to be wrestled to the floor so they didn’t try and take a walk outside mid-flight. And a lot of them like to bite the nearest restraining arm!

Confirms my experience that the keenest adopters are middle and upper management who are amazed that they can ‘vibe code’ without knowing how to actually code anything (and don’t recognise mistakes), and also use it for all their comms so they are now merrily gutting jobs across their organisations.

ONP’s policies are Wild West material. Uncosted, sugar-hit politics. No media are challenging ONP members or candidates on their “policies” and if they do are dismissed and leave it at that. The political media have become weak and ill-informed. They must keep asking the hard questions.

I uploaded a uni essay I wrote back in 2000 and asked ChatGPT to assess it for AI writing. It flagged whole sections as likely written or adapted from an AI chat bot like itself. I like to use a good em dash and my writing style is classically academic, so not surprising. My writing isn’t published.
