The arrogance has blown my mind. FB is full of researchers sharing ways that this has killed their workflows and yet BNA doesn't care. They could even put the old search back on a subdomain while they figure things out. The joy of spending 30mins wandering around old papers has completely gone.

Similar with gambling. When I was younger, I was putting bets on live telly games to make them interesting. Eventually dawned on me that I was voluntarily handing over £10 a time to watch something that I didn't really like.

People who happily part with hundreds of pounds for access to trawl grainy, sometimes illegible, monotone facsimiles probably aren't *that* interested in a smoother looking new typeface or a more contemporary menu layout 👎🏼

British Newspaper Archive's fanfared "upgrade" is the worst UI update I've seen in a decade. Simple search functions have been hidden behind a maze of bewildering, verbose drop-downs. Muscle memory and workflow patterns broken for 1000s of researchers. Guarantee no users were asked during dev.

I hadn't thought of that. But I think I do! It's a good game. I find I ponder strategically about the first few rows, but once things become chaotic there's not much I can do other than randomly throw down tiles. Having a way to make space through skill could add interest towards the end.

I'd love a strategic way to delete letters and make some new space on the board. It'd make me feel more like I have a bit of control over vertical height. For example, if I put four of the same letter together, perhaps they turn to bombs? I really enjoy the game, good work.

This was nearly the League Cup trophy. The League had borrowed it for the Southern League Cup, but the SFA asked for it back to use as the Victory Cup. I think the Clyde (?) chairman then commissioned the three-sided trophy that we use now.
