We've now had essentially the same sorts of scandals in homecare, family day care, employment services, NDIS, veterans, residential aged care and ECEC. (I'm sure I've missed some in that list.)

Leaked government documents reveal AI companies would be allowed to train their models on online content without paying its creators as long as they struck deals with enough rights holders.

A Twisted Tale ➡️ Chapter 1 on Steam @taletwisted.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
Today I received an invitation to an #AI Gaming Conference promising to show devs how to go from prototype to #Steam launch in three months. As the #solodeveloper of a #handdrawn, frame-by-frame animated 90s-style #pointandclick adventure, I had some thoughts. So I replied.

And this is why I have a rule of thumb, don't buy early access games. To get me to break that rule means you have to meet an insanely high bar for me including offering a demo and proof of capability, ability and progress for delivery

Young Australians did what they were told: study, work hard and save. So why are millennials and Gen Z still going backwards?

So I’ve just scrolled twenty short videos in the recommended category and these videos have shown up, each supposedly from a different creator, all AI, all hating on welfare recipients. And yes, I block them as they pop up. And it keeps reappearing from different sources
“POV: just an average day in a UK council-estate household” “The Universal Credit Guard Dogs” “POV: Benefit fraud charges his lodger for the stairs” “POVd the average benefit fakers be like”

Over the last 24 hrs TikTok’s algorithm started showing a series of AI animated shorts hating on poor people, people in housing commissions, people with disabilities, people on welfare… Media outlets worry about the effect of social media on children, but this is poisonous for *anyone*

I would approach gently. They're not wrong but they're not right either. I see them doing it one day but not yet. Robotics is at the right level now, it's the AI intelligence that isn't ready. Technically flying cars exist they're just not commercially ready yet.

Through several days in the witness box, Dwyer established that Charles Perrottet did work through his wife's company and treated it as his own, sometimes signing "Cheers, Charles" on emails sent from Anita Perrottet's work email account. Other times he performed tasks as if he was his wife.

the entire review system needs work. Review bombing was and still is to some degree effective. It'd be nice to see some users have a greater weight when calculating statuses. A 10 yr old account holds more weight than a 1 yr old account or a brand new account as an example.

How do you convince someone who’s at risk of AI psychosis that having a AI friend isn’t a good idea? I’m genuinely worried after they told me today that in 2030 the AI will be downloaded into a real body. When I tried to push back they hung up on me

we have some residents from a local nursing home who now join us also. It doesn't fix the problem of loneliness but it helps.

Firedingo @firedingo.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
I would encourage them to engage in local activities that interest them to make human friends. Loneliness isn't easy to fix but trying helps. Animals are companions. Lots of activities don't require big efforts. I take my dad to my church's seniors morning tea so he gets connection and companionship

These facts may help said friend to hold AI with a grain of salt. The main aim should be to ensure said friend always defaults to checking on important information and doesn't trust AI for decision making. 6/6

Models also have significant biases in them from training data and learned data from the user meaning you can't get a well rounded answer either. 5/6

Firedingo @firedingo.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
It's worth being aware many models employ psychologically manipulative tactics to convince you they're right all the time such as gaslighting. Architecturally genAI by design will always hallucinate so nothing it says can be guaranteed to be true. 4/6

Firedingo @firedingo.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
The more they're grounded in reality, the more they won't be manipulated by AI. Factors that contribute is fanatical zealous agreement, authoritative language, the encouragement to keep engaging such as asking follow up questions and the fact the models can sound human like. 3/6

Teach them about the CRAAP test. Currency, Relevancy, Accuracy, Authority, Purpose. Help them to trust better sources. You may not change them entirely but you anchor them in facts and reality. I'd also encourage them to maintain human friends and share with their human friends also. 2/6
