Living very quietly in the Cascadia bioregion. Mostly things related to textiles, and lots of photos of Victor Velluto, an elegant goofball Russian Blue cat. “Darling, these are my gardening pearls.”

Happy First Day of Halloween 🍂 Throwback cartoon. Circa 2023
A black and white illustration of me driving in my car happily. Beside me, buckled in, is a carved pumpkin. It's an old cartoon. But a goodie.

Progress report on the purple balaclava for an elderly lady. I really think this is going to need to be accessorized with Dame Edna style sunglasses 🧶
An older white woman wears a purple balaclava in the process of being knitted. The balaclava is knit from the top, and is designed to cover both the nose and mouth, leaving only the eyes visible. Right now the balaclava reaches just to the bottom of my nose.

I like to imagine what these sound like as they go through the air. This one sounds like an accordion rolling sound in a 55 gallon oil drum, with undernotes of bassoon and top notes of tree cricket

“Bongo” Ballpoint pen, pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, and a little colored pencil.

Our man is in trouble this time, reader. Art supplies are scattered around a painting of an abstract cityscape. On the canvas we see a man in a telephone booth making a frantic call to his cat, Bongo. In the foreground, an answering machine is taking his voicemail, [Leave a message at the beep] --- “Bongo, Daddy got stuck in the painting. Go get help, Bongo.” Bongo stands at the base of the easel looking at the phone. Her tail in the air and ears perked up. Whether she’ll be able to help is open to interpretation.

Artist’s note: One of my favorites from the Spooky Pants book. I was playing around with the idea of a painting coming to life (like that guy in Ghostbusters 2) and kind of fumbled my way into this version. I really draw a lot of corded phones. I won’t stop.

One of my (many, many) pet peeves is recipe instructions that call for covering a bowl with plastic wrap. I guarantee you that you have one or more plates or pan lids that will cover the bowl very nicely. (And if you don’t, well, put that on your thrift store list)
A stainless steel kitchenaid bowl sits on a counter. The bowl has been covered with a luncheon plate in the old blue calico pattern

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a guy is putting on his jacket, getting ready to leave his apartment. He says, “gonna go get some ice cream.” Panel 2: the guy peeks around a corner into another room in his apartment. In the room, there is a monkey with glowing eyes floating in a large, shimmering, blue tube and some unusual technology lining the walls. The guy asks, “you want anything, omniscient monkey in hypersleep?” Panel 3: answering his own question, the guy scoffs, “psh! Duh… banana flavor.”

It's really remarkable how consistent the weather is here. Almost inevitably we get a good rain and wind storm a few days after the autumn equinox. Like the weather gods checked the calendar on the fridge on the 21st and muttered weather God speak for "Huh. Already?"

Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
