Glad to see the "Chicago rat hole" (rodent-body imprint) of January 2024 Internet fame was studied more, but just to add my $0.02: Many folks missed the tracks leading away from the body imprint, meaning the squirrel (not rat) fell & splatted in wet concrete, but then walked it off. 🧪🐿️🐾
Photo showing the outline of small rodent body as a negative (concave) impression in sidewalk concrete, with left two limbs clearly defined but missing the upper right limb (arm) and only part of the right rear limb (leg); a thin tail is implied by a pointed imprint behind the main body imprint. The photo is labeled with "Direction of rodent movement" and a red arrow pointing to the upper right of the photo, and a red circle is around a set of rodent tracks in the upper right near the body imprint, labeled as "Rodent tracks."

Here is your Saturday Spider. It's a twig spider (maybe Ariamnes sp.?) in Madagascar, at night in the forest; it has captured another spider, which is the soccer-ball thing near its fangs. About 1 inch long. (I've shared this elsewhere before, but I think not here. Sorry, if so.) #Arachtober 🐙🌿
A photo of a spider called a twig spider, standing atop a straight, thin, dry twig, parallel to it, stretching in a level line left to right. The background is pure black. The spider has very long legs and an extremely elongated, twig-like abdomen. It has captured a smaller spider and has it wrapped up in a silk ball; two straight strands of silk are visible, one starting at the spinnerets and anchored to the twig, the other attached to the prey and leading left, out of frame.

On September 11, I imaged Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) from Atacama, Chile, just a few days before it became unobservable due to its conjunction with the Sun. In the image, it shows a brightness of magnitude 11 and a turquoise coma in good shape, condensed and about 3 arcminutes in size. The tail extends some 23 arcminutes, with an ionic central spine and what appears to be a faint dust tail opening at a narrow angle slightly above. The comet will become observable again in late October from the Northern Hemisphere, though it is uncertain whether it will survive perihelion.
