Massively frustrating that despite being pro-Palestine generally as a nation with many working tirelessly to support and help those suffering, we, and by extension the people of Gaza, are consistently let down on a global stage by the people who are supposed to represent us

It was my final film for @tiffnet.bsky.social and I had an absolute blast with it. Also, felt incredibly Queer too, I can totally see this becoming a beloved film for so many people.

Getting to see @manmademoon.bsky.social talk about the process of getting Rogue Trooper out into the world was so worth being awake at 3am after the Midnight Madness screening

It’s honestly the best video game film I’ve ever seen. It understands the vibe of survival horror games so well.

Ooooh will you be in Toronto for Rogue Trooper at TIFF? 👀 I second @crobertcargill.bsky.social recommendation of checking out the Vinegar Syndrome store at Roncevalles. Also Bay St Video is fantastic. You absolutely can get poutine, though many differing opinions on best spot

I didn't think people could get madder at Ed Sheeran than when he showed up in that episode of Game of Thrones, but he's pulled it off.

I know I’m not the only one has probably made this observation but it really annoys me that the new horror film Other Mommy is not called Other Mother.

I saw The Lost Children of Tuam last night as I continue my TIFF screenings and what an incredibly impactful film. Catherine Corless is a hero and I think it is so important that more people will know her name and the hard work she did to shine a light on the abuses of the Magdalene laundries

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Not sure which I find more infuriating, this inconsiderate behavior, or the inconsiderate behavior of people who talk through the entire concert.... I paid to listen to live music, not some drunk chatting about meaningless shite

The extra grim thing for me is that commenting on people's bodies is something people across the political spectrum feel is acceptable. We can't just chalk it up to oh a bigot is a bigot because fatphobia runs so fucking deep that "well meaning" people do this shit too.

When even someone as confident and talented as CMAT is affected by the level of body-shaming vitriol aimed at her, what hope do the rest of us have. Body positivity is worthwhile, but it can only go so far when society still treats commenting on people's bodies as acceptable. We've so, so far to go.

The two best things for an author is you telling them that you love their work and you telling others that you love their work. It's something that never gets old and is always a boost, both for the author's mental health and their actual career. So never think they won't want to hear it.

Kindness to wildlife is essential, as the biosphere comes under more and more stress. But also as more people seem to view animals as annoyances or just there to be a photographed or even to be insensate, inanimate. (Wildlife rescues are under extraordinary strain and deserve your support.)

Two years ago I had my agents ask authors seeking blurbs if they had used LLMs in the writing or research for their novels. If yes, then I won’t read their books. I know I could be lied to. If I am lied to, I will LOUDLY retract my endorsement. I hope more writers might adopt a similar policy.

I wrote something about how to dress for your body type. I disagree with guides that approach this from a corrective POV (e.g. clothes that make fat people look slim, short people look tall). Instead, I think it's about learning how to express yourself in a language www.mrporter.com/en-us/journa...
