This is not a quick read, but I think it's worth your time if you want to advocate for the NDIS.

Removing participants from a scheme that serves politically marginalised people with the least power to resist, to produce a visible budget saving in a four-year forward estimate, while leaving the structural causes of cost growth substantially intact and transferring costs to families, health systems, and future budgets where they won’t be counted, this is not a tough decision. It is the path of least political resistance dressed in the language of courage. Cutting access to a program that serves people with disability is considerably easier than challenging the market delivery model, taking on the interests that benefit from it, and doing the unglamorous infrastructure work that a genuine solution requires.

The Government is planning to cut more than $35 billion from the NDIS. This cut will see over 160,000 people kicked off the NDIS. $35 billion also equates to roughly two-thirds of the cost of one AUKUS submarine.

Please sign up. The people needing NDIS should not be suffering cuts from an inept corporate-friendly crony-friendly Labor Govt who refuses to tax gas exports. A 25% gas export tax for better health services; & revamping NDIS to a Medicare similar model may be better policy. What's ya reckon?

Part of the problem is inadequate welfare and unaffordable housing are pushing people with disability to top up their incomes any way they can. Focusing on the NDIS in isolation without addressing this broader living costs problem is cruel and will, understandably, lead to a backlash.
