There should be extremely severe consequences for any politician, esp someone like Johnson in leadership, for sowing doubt into the very foundations of democracy like this. We've dealt with this claim over & over and they keep being proved wrong but they keep saying this stuff. It's unacceptable.

Certainly there were material reasons also and other reasons which are important. However, I think the other reasons explain the poor turnout, whereas the rebellion explanation is the explanation for the people who actually voted for Trump.

I met a white southern democrat while canvassing - was leaving the party & supporting Trump. He seemed ashamed as he said it. The reasons were obvious. This election was the defeat of the GOP by the altright and the final blow of the southern strategy, as the last dregs hit the racism panic button.

As someone who switched sides, I disagree. These people come from a mindset of domination. They are still what they are. You can't show weakness. They need to endure the damage & remain on our side. If they cannot, their ego is more important to them than rightness, and they would betray us anyway.

Hmm, I don't think they did deny it though. There was concern about this among even conservatives. I remember when they derisively mocked the rise of the alt-right.. then they realized that their voters were all nazis, so they dropped the pretense of opposition & fell in line.

What's even the point of commenting on this then. If that's your position, then nothing the representative said could ever be acceptable. The terminology is equally unimportant now, but for a different reason. No terminology could be correct. So criticizing it just seems pointless.

I was referring to what the term represents, not the term itself. We want stable relations with European countries. When people say "free world" they mean the European countries. If we both want stable relations with these countries, then we do not need to have a disagreement.

Gambling should not be easily accessible & marketable. Online gambling marketplaces should be illegal outright. I honestly thought gambling outside of casinos was already illegal... Isn't that the entire purpose of casinos? A compromise to keep gambling but only in specific, regulated locations?

People are desperate for a leader. The guy is a captain. It makes sense that people would look to him to fill the leadership void. But I agree, he should not be president. He is not exactly a champion of the better tomorrow... He's very uninteresting outside of his past accolades.

I think it's moreso that Kelly is very moderate & fairly corpo. In normal times he probably wouldn't say anything at all, but I think he does specifically really hate Trump, so some mild comments come out. I guess we'll see if death threats from the president changes him tho.
