Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

A wild thread: 490 million years ago, the seafloor which would become the city of Baltimore was a serpentinite-hosted hydrothermal vent complex. Those vents laid the ultramafic structures that would, in 1812, be discovered as America's first chromite mine.

A decision was made that all podcast hosts should be co-authors on the paper, since the predominate intellectual contribution comes not from drafting, but the 8-year process of building an educational D&D program. Which means I get to publish my first paper with my daughter.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes. The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last. The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes. Why? It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I’ve said this before, a lot, but when you’re an author and your book doesn’t sell your feelings can default to the premise, “Everyone in the world was offered my book and they all personally rejected it.” The truth is most people don’t know it exists. Awareness is the problem, not you or your book.
