Re: non linear, there were so many years of uncertainty in the base case. Bottom line you still now would not start planning to HQ your EU operations in London based on the speech but give it a bit and at least hold off on implementing the last of a Brexit windup.

"Pricing El Niño is not the same as preventing its loss of life. Yet, many of those acting on its forecasts are using them to move money, not people, out of harm’s way," writes Justin S. Mankin in a new #ScienceEditorial. scim.ag/3TpFtd3

One simple way that you know the United States is not a full democracy & has experienced significant democratic backsliding is that, in actual democracies, it does not matter "which party runs elections" heading into the next one. "Democracy is a system in which parties lose elections"

Every segregationist ever thinks they will forever be in the club they’re trying to kick other people out of. And every segregationist ever, if they manage to kick one group out of the club, immediately begins looking for another group to kick out of the club. It’s a cannibal ideology.

For a long time I've wanted a sense of how trump has or hasn't interacted with chatbots (we know he posts a lot of slop sure). And this TIME anecdote about Grok arguably leading Trump into war is just extremely bracing
Since returning to office, Trump has marveled at AI’s capabilities. He is increasingly in thrall to the tech executives courting him. In December 2025, Elon Musk returned to the Oval Office for a clandestine meeting. Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.

As I understand it, GB Grid's new assets can be projects (such as long DC cables, new large demand projects etc. ) connecting to NGET's existing HV network. So it will be building and connecting some large 400kV assets in competition with NGET, pulling from the queue. Does that make sense to you?

Technology enthusiasts severely overestimate the average person’s desire or willingness or capacity to build and use AI agents. I understand some work roles that could mandate or encourage it but that is no way a tech revolution. Agents are best for structured, clearly delineated tasks.
