The problem for Dems who want to build their own new media ecosystem is the biggest pods for younger men are explicitly political only some of the time. The guests on these shows are mostly yapping about sports/gaming/comedy, then occasionally dipping into right-leaning politics.

I'm even confused what the complaint from Elon is here. That writeup is accurate and unbiased. It is *simply true* that "the gesture was compared to a Nazi salute." The writeup isn't even taking a side. It's pointing out that people did compare it to such a salute. It also includes his denial.

One of the most essential Lakoffian insights and one that shows how perverse most of our political conversation is: There are no moderates.

"There are no moderates—that is, there is no moderate worldview, no one set of ideas that characterizes a “center” or “moderation.” People who are called “moderates” use conservative thought in some issue areas and progressive thought in others, without falling on any linear left-to-right scale. Indeed, many so-called moderates have no moderation at all, and are quite passionate about both their conservative and their progressive views. For example, consider Chuck Hagel, an antiwar conservative, and Joe Lieberman, a pro-war liberal. Both are called “moderates,” but they have few beliefs in common and certainly do not share a single worldview."

Trump and Musk are spreading disinformation about CA for several reasons. First, they need their tribe to think the worst of both CA politicians AND those affected. So they invent stories to make it their fault. Second, they need govt to be incompetent to drive the dissatisfaction they feed off.
