A crucial detail: “not run by the United Nations.” This is no accident. UNRWA and the #UnitedNations have been the subject of valid criticisms, but also politically-motivated criticisms in #Gaza. The latter were meant to delegitimize the organization, and justify stopping their work. 🧵 1/

At first, I felt @aljazeera.com and other's use of "aid seekers" to describe the killing of Gazans seeking food at #GHF centres shone light on the ways aid is being used as a tool to kill in #Gaza. Now I focus on the next, #dehumanizing part of the sentence: "along with others."

A few further thoughts on Trump's Syria announcement. First, beyond the obvious benefit for Syrians, it might have a broader impact: it demonstrates, for the first time I can remember, that American sanctions aren't a one-way ratchet. They can be lifted if conditions change. 🧵
