Christmas shifts aren’t so bad when you finally get time to breathe, catch up on admin, and even squeeze in some professional reading. Illuminating the Dark Side of Occupation has been on my list for awhile and I’m excited to get reading! 🎄📚 #OTALife #ChristmasDayShift
A close-up of the book “Illuminating the Dark Side of Occupation: International Perspectives from Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science,” edited by Rebecca Twinley. The cover features a blue and white design with a network of dark blue and yellow dots connected by lines, symbolising interconnectedness.

No, it's not some weird US version of April Fool's day - this is actually true. Every time this side of the Atlantic we think US healthcare can't get more cruel and absurd it pulls one like this out of the bag

These latest findings should be attracting far more attention. As winter begins, the public need to be mindful of the immense psychological pressure healthcare staff are under; and NHS trusts need to up their game to deal with it.

We need to talk about dying
The assisted dying debate has been filled with horror stories of miserable ends. But does this reflect the reality of ordinary death?

Apparently, I’m in the top 0.5% of Beartooth listeners, which tracks — sometimes loud music is the best sensory regulation strategy. Add in a car concert, and it’s basically OT-approved self-care! 🎸💚 #SpotifyWrapped
A Spotify Wrapped summary featuring Beartooth as the top artist, with Four Year Strong, Falling In Reverse, Royal & the Serpent, and Chappell Roan in the top five. Top songs include “dead end friend,” “kinda smacks,” “HIND’S HALL,” “Crash and Burn,” and “Bloodsucker.” Total listening minutes: 22,552. The background is vibrant green with abstract patterns.

For OT’s or anyone experienced in mental health care: do you have any interventions or resources for supporting patients stuck in a self-harm/suicidal behaviour cycle? I have a new patient who’s a bit stuck in this cycle and I’d love to hear about what has worked for you! #OccupationalTherapy

Making research accessible for a wide range of readers, minds and populations is the cornerstone of the applicability of research in every day life. This bridges the gap between research and practice in education!

Hi, I’m Emily! Originally from Florida ☀️ Now living in England 🇬🇧 I have a BA in Philosophy, an MA in TESOL, and (soon) a BSc in OT. I’m passionate about neurodivergence and mental health and I love baking and anything coffee related. My goal? To lead NHS policy change for a more inclusive future.

A sandy path lined with green foliage leads to a bright, turquoise ocean under a sunny blue sky with fluffy white clouds. A “Lifeguard Protected Area” sign is visible near the beach entrance.

Hey you, buy the precut fruit and veggies, no, I know it’s not cheaper, I can read, but you’re not going to go home and cut them and put them away like you said. You’re actually going to NOT eat them if they’re not pre-cut so you’re actually wasting money. You are welcome, I love you too.
