Of course it breathes. It thrusts air, doesn't it? Air comes in, air goes out. This is the problem with philosophers, if you mean something more than that by "breathing" you are just begging the question. No, I have not read any of the literature on this.

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

Right. When humans write a chain novel, they don't all begin their chapters with "I am a different author from the authors of the other chapters, I will be approaching the chapter differently and here is how". They contribute to the novel, which could be one about the experience of writing a novel.

This morning I re-watched my video argument with the NY Times' Patrick Healy, and it's clear that the Times believes if it says explicity that the Trump regime is assaulting democracy, that would undermine its work to investigate how the regime is assaulting democracy. What an absurd position.

The levels of immigration of 2010-24 now call into question whether Ian Wright or Marcus Rashford should be regarded as English is a dumb argument. When immigration was lower, we could accept Ian Wright in 1997, but the levels of net migration mean we will have to tell him he isn't English anymore
All this is why the debate over Englishness cannot be dismissed as a mere racist fixation; and why it’s a particular problem for right-leaning parties. If it is not to threaten the electability of British conservative movements, three things need to happen. Firstly, there needs to be much greater honesty from politicians. People can see the illusion of coherence crumbling around them. There must be an acknowledgement that demographic change is not some great, unbridled good, nor is it an inevitable price of globalisation. There needs to be a greater recognition that what happened under nominally conservative administrations has made a non-racialised concept of Englishness more, not less, difficult. Some humility wouldn’t go amiss. Historically, it is incredibly difficult to assimilate millions of people from different cultures. Very few countries have managed it.

took 92-year-old Ron back to the streets
where he grew up in Tottenham for the first

British. In 2021, it was just 23.2%,

I'm sure because Rooney knows the actual arrest of a retired vicar and 90+ campaigner gets only a fraction of the press attention that she gets for even talking about it. An arrest would be unimaginably embarrassing for the government, they categorically do not want to pick that fight. So she will.
