The decent man narrative is strong today isn’t it. Interesting people confuse ‘well mannered and not shouty’ with decent. Worst pm for LGBTQ+ rights since thatcher. Oppressive treatment or asylum seekers. U turned on ‘values’ he claimed to hold dear. Offered hope then stuck the other boot in

REACT, a service we provide with Bradford Teaching Hospitals, won an NHS Excellence Award! 🎉 Together we’re changing what happens when terminally ill people come to A&E - identifying those in their last year of life and getting rapid, specialist care in place at home. We couldn’t be more proud 💛

This is utterly disgusting. If this stands, people with profound cognitive disabilities will be left without protection. This is the kind of horror that will end up being the subject of a major inquiry 20 years from now when the damage has already been done. www.mind.org.uk/news-campaig...
The Court has suggested that in borderline cases, for a deprivation of liberty to exist, a care setting must closely mirror the extreme confinement of a prison cell.

· If a vulnerable person appears passive or does not actively protest their arrangements, the law may recognise this as "consent" — even if they are subjected to routine physical restraint or chemical sedation or have never known a life without a high level of restriction.

The new EHRC Code of Practice is not fit for purpose. It does not provide clear guidance or do enough to protect everyone from discrimination, and it is not compatible with longstanding British values. @EdDavey.LibDems.org.uk and @MarieCGoldman.bsky.social have written to Bridget Phillipson. ⬇️

If you're trans and work for a sizable UK company or organisation, now is a great time to log into your HR portal and remove any information you can on your sex/gender, e.g. by replacing any information with "prefer not to say".

This bypasses Parliament. This approach was rejected in the Data Bill but the government thinks it can just go to the undemocratic FWS v Scottish Ministers ruling. This has implications for future handling of data. It erases the idea of sex discrimination for trans people for religious ideology

Let me find you a mirror to look into professor Sullivan
It recommends that universities help students to see "robust disagreement as an opportunity for intellectual growth rather than a threat" They should also "avoid directing staff or students to mental health support resources in response to the presence of views with which they disagree"

Only 30% of pall care is NHS funded. Given today's vote, will Keir Starmer at least commit to dramatically increasing palliative care provision so that patients don't "choose" to end their lives because we, society, fail to give them the care that might make life worth living?

I find this utterly abhorrent. If assisted dying is to come into the UK then it must be with the values of care, compassion and empathy, a collective will to make the best of something. Not another vehicle for the capitalism broligarchy to try and make yet more money from vulnerable people
