I’ve been inactive on social media for ages but I came back here just to express the sheer amount of UUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH that I felt at the goddamn Olympics using AI for the animations in the opening. How can you not afford to hire an animator?!

Trump 2024
I fear Trump flew too close to the sun with this. He owns this, whatever the outcome may be. If it works, then he looks like a genius. If it craters the economy into a recession, there is no one to blame but himself.
The question is though, what does "this is working" look like? What metrics are we looking for? Is potentially cratering the economy worth it for a few thousand manufacturing jobs?

We all are, because if it doesn't it's going to be one massive recession, and the only loser then is America.
Not Republicans. Not Democrats. Not big corpo Gods.
America loses.

I don't think this is good policy at all.
I have a fairly robust education in economics, but I'm certainly not an expert. I've tried to keep thinking, "There are some very smart people behind these moves," but this is all making me uneasy. And I think what bothers me the most is that I get the sense I'm not being told the truth. Not necessarily "lied to," not yet at least, but it's like they don't think the masses are smart enough to understand what their reasoning is. So they trot out bullshit stats to justify what they're doing, which people on the right side of the bell curve can easily see through.

I downloaded old iTunes. I'm struck by how much more customizable it is than Apple Music and the rest of it. My iPod is also 17-year-old. 120GB. Works perfectly. Even got a Bluetooth adapter. No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking. Just a durable, functional device. Enshittification is real.

I moved away from streaming music and towards buying CDs or FLAC files a few months ago. My biggest pet peeve is when songs just aren’t available to buy AT ALL. I go out of my way to legally acquire them, but when I have to set my VPN to Japan to be able to buy Swedish music, I’ve had enough. 🏴‍☠️

Question: Can you explain the relationship between Thing A and Thing B?

Answer: It is hard to find the words, but I can explain it with an ANALOGY! Do you know how Thing C relates to Thing D? The RELATIONSHIP between Thing A and Thing B is the same!

What this actually means: Oh, I see now, even though Group A/B is different from Group C/D, I understand the relationship between C and D, so if I apply that same relationship between A and B, this answers my question. Thank you!

What an idiot sees: Wait, you think A is the same thing as C? But A is nothing like C! How can you even compare A to C? What a gross terrible thing to do!

I tried recording a video today, and it went terribly. I’m not a good public speaker at all, not exactly photogenic, and I hate the sound of my voice. I spent 5 hours recording, and I’ve got about 2 seconds of footage that I don’t feel the need to post a public apology for subjecting others to.

People talk about fighting Islamophobia and antisemitism, but often by attacking the other religion. That just creates more hatred and more of both. If you want to fight hatred, do it with love. Do it by reaching out. As MLK said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that."
