Trump continues to disperse disaster recovery funds based on how states vote, which for any other president or public official, in any other time, in any other country, in any other context would be a morally horrific scandal that would dominate headlines for months.

Painting created by Hazel Edwards c.1961, in the art therapy studio at Netherne Hospital, where she was compelled to live. One of three surviving works, others feature tiny, mirror handwriting, detailing experiences of non-consensus based reality. No biographical information is currently known to us
Painting of a white slim woman of indeterminate age, maybe forty or fifty at the very oldest, with short curly brown hair, wearing a turquoise knee length dress with fitted bodice, long sleeves and baggy skirt and brown brogues, looking down and to the left inside a multicoloured landscape of watercolour brush strokes that make the ground look like water, with blue tree like strokes on either side of her and a blue cave mouth or portal directly behind her, the effect dreamlike and uneasy, not frightening exactly but neither entirely welcoming or comforting and the figure looks a bit lost or contemplative

The party leadership hates Zohran because he’s Muslim and antizionist, to be sure — but the real reason he’s so dangerous to them is because he reminds voters that elected officials are supposed to make your life better, and half the time it’s not even that hard for them to do it

primary every centrist democrat
If Democrats want a role model ahead of this year's midterm elections, they could not do better
than Analilia Mejia, the newest member of Congress. The winner of an April special election to fill a suburban New Jersey seat that party insiders thought would favor a centrist, Mejía, a former political director for Senator Bernie Sanders and the director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, ran as a progressive who was prepared to take on the "bosses and bullies in both parties to get things done." After emerging as the victor in a crowded and complicated primary—in which she backed Medicare for All, guaranteed paid sick leave, and a moratorium on AI data centers; accurately described Israel's assault on Gaza as a genocide; and declared that "it's time to abolish ICE"—Mejía won the general election by a 20-point margin (more than double the margin that the district gave Kamala Harris in 2024). Mejía embraced her mandate by immediately proposing to raise the federal minimum wage to $25 an hour.

Dems could get enough votes to impeach RFK Jr over this, no question. Conviction in the Senate is harder, 67 is a high hurdle. But a strong Dem push for it, including a relentless media strategy, could cause Trump to panic and force a u-turn.

As an aside, we’ve been witnessing what ICE can do w/ (very roughly) a 50% increase in funding & a strong desire to do it. I don’t think anyone is prepared for what the country will look like when their capacity has been tripled. Bad times are ahead, & it’s incumbent on all of us to do what we can.
