oh i’m entirely aware that they would block it. as for being folded into VA/MD you’d make an enemy of everyone who lives/grew up there. no offense but every time it comes up that feels like a symptom of the incorrect belief that DC is nothing but monuments/govt buildings instead of a living city

it would be an insanely uphill battle (because the GOP knows this) but DC statehood would be a legit power swing for the democrats. house rep (that can actually VOTE unlike currently) and 2 actual senators from a place that voted 90% blue (and only 6% trump) in 2024
