We didn’t see the aurora borealis but we did do a drive thru car wash today
Picture from the drivers seat of a car. The large overhead rotating brush is just starting to make contact with the windshield. The rainbow soap is being smeared and kinda looks like the northern lights to be honest

My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace. It immediately sold out so he had another one that also sold out.

Predictive text models do not ever "answer your question" They predict what an answer to your question would probably look like. Which is very, very, very different

Not coincidentally, tech bros also repeatedly reinvent coloniality. The early libertarian manifestos of the internet say it aloud! White men thrilled to explore and settle the terra nullius of cyberspace, which by the way will NOT need laws. www.eff.org/cyberspace-i...

Charles Dickens was very worried that the US would default on its debts.
An excerpt from “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens:

“This was a great relief, because "three days after sight of this First of Exchange pay to Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge or his order," and so forth, would have become a mere United States' security if there were no days to count by.”

It remains at least mildly grim how much space white dudes take up on NYTXW bylines. 20 puzzles this month, only 3.5 by women. Solo puzzles by women this year still not back to frequency of 20 years ago. More puzzles will have women’s names on them this year than any previous Shortz year. And yet ☹️
