As someone who actively develops OSS, this trend of US frontier models not willing to help secure the OSS for the end user is deeply concerning. I'm resorting to open weight models like GLM 5.2 & Kimi K3 to ensure good quality security (hopefully) for the community.

When LLMs use the em dash, it's almost painful to look at. Why do many of the models use them in excess?!? After extensive research, it looks like 2 things are happening in the fine tuning process: 1. Contamination 2. Amplification

Yeah, it's a sticky problem.

What happens if startups don't have access to these models while the incumbents do? I don't know what the right solution is, but I'd be very careful about restricting open models since recourse will be very hard.

Eli Bressert @elibressert.com · 28/06/2026
If highly capable open models are accessible only to gov, approved companies, or institutions, while being restricted for most individuals, this results in a significant imbalance in access to knowledge and capability. Not a good outcome.

Eli Bressert @elibressert.com · 28/06/2026
Ensuring dangerous capabilities are restricted (eg how to make a nuke) is a good thing, but in regard to LLMs it is a slippery slope. LLM capabilities are jagged. Meaning that Mythos might be paramount at cybersecurity, but it not be dangerously good at something else. Where do we draw the line?

Agree with you 100%. Unfortunately a lot of these statements are marketing initiatives. Doesn't justify, but that's what is driving such claims.

A horrible story but god bless this woman so accurately reading the ICE goons for filth here
Marisa said she is eft with nothing BUt questions.
"What if I would have been armed," she 2 said. "You're breaking in. What am 1 supposed to think? My initial thought was we were being robbed-that my daughters, being females, were being kidnapped. You have guns pointed in our faces. Can you just reprogram yourself and see us as humans, as women? A little bit of mercy. Care a little bit about your fellow human, about your fellow citizen, fellow resident. We bleed too. We vork. We pleed justlike anybody else bleeds. We're scared. You could see our faces that we were terrified. What makes you so much more worthier of your peace? What makes you so much more worthier of protecting your children? What makes you so much more worthy of your citizenship? What makes you more worthy of safety? Of being given

Narrowband NGC 3293 - The Gem Cluster - From Rolf Wahl Olsen - flic.kr/p/2pSMtxp
NGC 3293, often referred to as the Gem Cluster, is a spectacular bright open star cluster located in the constellation of Carina. In this narrowband bicolour image the delicate nebulosity across the entire background really stands out.
It is one of the Southern Sky's finest binocular objects and consists of nearly one hundred stars huddled together in a tight group, with a contrasting bright red supergiant near it's centre - similar in appearance to Kappa Crucis in the Jewel Box Cluster.
Floating against a colourful backdrop of Milky Way stars and red Hydrogen emission, the cluster is also surrounded by a delicate faint blue haze visible in broadband images.
The cluster was discovered by Abbé Nicolas Louis de La Caille in 1752 during his expedition to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

A reminder that NSF is explicitly breaking the law if/when they attempt to cancel grants that focus on promoting participation in science by underrepresented groups on that basis, incl women in science programs like NSF ADVANCE. Congress expressly directs the NSF to grant funds for this purpose. 🧪
