trying out increasing internal scaling on 3d PS1 games and hmmmmmmmmm I don't think things were supposed to look this polygonal

I think if I had to rank the Mother games itd be impossible because they're ultimately different games even if the mechanics are all the same

Me starting Mother 3: hmm I don't know about this streamlined story heavy approach compared to the previous games in the series Me somewhere around chapter 7: wait this game rocks actually

I've played 2 games this year where trying to look at a sexy picture on an old-style computer interface ended up with something frightening and unexpected happening, if I had 2 nickels etc. etc.

came down with a fever over the weekend which finally allowed me to play some more Of The Devil and I got to the part where Emma's boss music started playing

Had this epiphany fairly recently, I COULD watch a 2 hour analysis of this movie or game... OR I could just experience it myself and see how I feel about it

AVGN, the first domino, then came Egoraptor... And then everyone just went on vibes for the last ~20 years

one of my favorite things on earth are considered, complete freeware games you can jump into sight unseen and go on a full journey in 5-15 minutes. there is zero institutional or critical support for the form, so when artists persevere and get real good at making 'em anyway it makes me very happy

appreciate the... vivid description, Castlevania 2 Manual

A screenshot of the manual for Castlevania 2 - Simon's Quest. "Bridge Over the River Die. Enemy creatures await you on the bridge as well, and getting to the other side will be more terrifying than a traffic jam on the Golden Gate."

Also really disliked the long walk from Hamlin to the Twin Horns because I'd run out of MP/HP by the time I got there but then I remembered that repel/fairy water exists this time around

been replaying DQ2 nes and I used to hate it the baboons around moonbrooke and grinded to beat them in my first playthrough but I realize now that I can just Run when they show up until I get the princess, and then just casting sleep on them makes them surprisingly easy to deal with lol

I'm very please to announce a public release of my drag-and-drop bookmarking, game-making, and wandering tool Scrubjay! Scrubjay is a weird website builder that lets you cobble together web elements, images, links, text fragments, etc into a series of nested rooms...

"SCRUBJAY" sits over a bunch of images of frogs, birds, doors. it's a very 90s look

mother 3 has a great bit where you get a party member so you reshuffle your inventory onto them and then they leave the party literally just 2 minutes later

040

Rinari🌿 @elf-yourself.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I wish you could rename the starting party because they're tight but also what do you mean my cleric is named Pete

Okay, I am not asking politely. If you have £4 of gaming budget to spare, grab Carter's Quest. It is a VERY good fusion of Devil May Cry and Zelda 64 with a really weird and interesting setting, some BIG story ideas of its own, and it is extremely bisexual. store.steampowered.com/app/2409110/...

Hmm, and I can see how "from the makers of Shovel Knight" is already a great sell for Mina the Hollower. Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on people

Rinari🌿 @elf-yourself.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

I think about 2/3 of difficulty discourse comes from the fact that people will play the new difficult video game because it's new and popular despite the fact that they know they hate playing difficult video games
