What a butchering of the original title. In Japanese, this is ワキでもだえる女たち (waki de modaeru onna-tachi). First of all, it's "Women" (onna-tachi), not "Girls." And while they are anguished/agonizing (modaeru), the title cut out "waki" meaning "armpit." This is an armpit fetish vid. Bury the lede much?

This isn't a continuity error because Xavier got the cheap Shi'ar data crystals and the mind backups are thus prone to corruption.

I love how galaxy-brained the Krakoa stuff is. I can see a few potential issues with this system of government.

These aren't Sara's own clothes and I desperately want to know who in the Titans picked them for her. You might want to say Scirocco, but they make Sara think of being a regular girl and that's not what he'd want at all.

Xavier does a lot worse in the Claremont run, but this is such a personally appalling scene. Just really putting Scott in his place for daring to respectfully question him in private.
Xavier tells Scott to notify Wolverine he's earned ten demerits.Scott respectfully tells him Wolverine's going to care about demerits and that he's not going to succeed if he treats grown adults like Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Storm like teenagers. Xavier throws a passive-aggressive hissy fit and calls Scott a bad leader.

The 90s repatriarchalization of the X-Men is depressing, isn't it? Xavier comes back from space, Storm gets demoted from the big boss to one of two team leaders, the bisexual anarchists of the New Mutants lose all the girls and become Cable's good soldiers...

I've wondered how the 80s X-Men's queer subtext was read at the time and here's one answer that I found a little surprising. Essentially: Being sold Kitty's relationships with Illyana and Rachel as normal teen girl friendships was very confusing to a deeply closeted girl. Well, it worked out.

Maybe SayoLara is really smart about this and thus exempt, but I've thought about that whole "profound cartoon leave your loved ones to grow" ending before, like in some recent Disney films and Steven Universe. It's terrible advice, isn't it? Having a support system is in fact good.

Bad faith Potter analysis drives me up the wall because I can't stand people being wrong on the Internet but I don't want to defend the honor of Harry Potter either. Also probably teaches the Internet even worse ways of engaging with art.

I realize this is petty and I have no desire to defend Rowling, but people acting like the house elf slavery stuff is the key to her black heart annoys me so much. It's clearly her just insensitively riffing on a mythical creature, not propagandizing for a return to racial chattel slavery.

Shout out to that moment in Gundam when some random doofus goon asks Char if he can go out in the Zackrello to get revenge for their fallen comrades, Char is like "??? what are you talking about? sure, i guess?" so then the Goon goes out in this stupid fucking thing and dies in 5 minutes

I wonder if anyone's ever done a study of 70s superhero comics' trust in their audience's ability to follow the story? Even classics seem mostly concerned with making sure everything is as clear as possible, with lots of thought balloons, bad exposition or the narrator describing the images.

Joker tries to escape in the Batmobile but can't start it. To wrap the story up, Batman helpfully shows him how the Batmobile's radio is actually a lock that must be opened by inputting the correct password, which he also reveals to him. Turns out his password is Batman.

This sense of history is maybe the best thing about UC Gundam. The characters are naturally mostly concerned with their immediate conflicts, but the viewer can see it's really the story of an empire in terminal decline. Your zeons and cosmo babylonias are just symptoms.

The best thing you can do in a music video is intentionally misinterpret the lyrics. Tom Petty doing concerning things with a body in Mary Jane's Last Dance, Miike Snow's Genghis Khan being about a supervillain who can't decide whether to kill or marry Bond...

This is such a good way of drawing Spoiler's face. No features, just a black blob with absurdly expressive white eyes.
Three panel sequence of Spoiler psyching herself up for a fight and failing from Batgirl #26. She wears a purple cape and hood. Her face inside the hood is just a solid, featureless block of black, aside from two white, very expressive eyes. Vincent Giarrano is the penciller.
