Palantir’s Tom Watson hasn’t missed an opportunity to fearmonger about “highly organised pressure groups” affecting public interest procurement. We’d say firms like Peter Mandelson’s Global Counsel, who lobbied the government on Palantir’s behalf, are a bigger risk 👀 bit.ly/3VALODg

Pretty much what I would expect in a country that screams in enraged terror for a week about the very idea that Zionism may be racist, while entirely failing to ask whether the project itself is at all racist, despite the genocide, massive destruction, land seizure and ethnic cleansing
This is incredible.
And not in a good way at all

Standing together against hate means standing up for everyone. Everybody deserves to feel safe, respected and welcome.
Green Party quote graphic titled “STANDING AGAINST HATE CRIMES”, featuring Deputy Leader Mothin Ali standing in front of a mosque, against a green-tinted background.
The quote reads:
“Whether you’re a Black boy sitting in a park, a Jewish family going to synagogue, a Muslim praying in a mosque, or someone who arrived in our country seeking safety from war and persecution, there should be no place in this country where you can’t live your life in peace and security.
You don’t have to become your neighbour. You don’t have to worship like them, vote like them or agree with them. You do have to recognise their equal right to exist and belong. That should be the standard we set for the country, and for ourselves.”
The Green Party logo and promotional imprint appear at the bottom left.

We can't seriously expect people to choose rail when it costs three times as much as flying. We need a clear duty on the Secretary of State and Great British Railways, to improve the affordability of travelling by train and make fares fair.

Great watch. I particularly liked the bit when Sheridan points out that nuclear level wanker Osbourne, used a totally flawed spreadsheet to introduce austerity to UK. Thanks George, you imbecilic fuckwit. And Burnham is using the same austerity model. That makes Burnham an imbecile also. Right?

I don't think anyone is under any illusion this is easy to resolve. But the only resolution that doesn't involve ethnic cleansing is peaceful coexistence in one state. Two ethnically distinct states can't be created without millions of people being ethnically cleansed from one or the other.

Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 16h
As stated in the motion anyone found guilty of crimes should face the legal consequences. But those who have done nothing wrong shouldn't be ethnically clensed.

The motion is quite clear on that though "equal rights for all".

Not all high profile Greens hold an official position either in the party or as elected officials. But can still use their influence to bully a chair at conference into extending plenary, against the constitution, so someone can speak against the genocide motion...

Yes and as I say that's why support rather than call for is important. It should be looked at. We shouldn't just be defaulting to a two state solution, as the West has for decades.

Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
I don't think anyone is calling for Zack's removal. Other leading figures should probably remember that they aren't above the party, as much as they might like to throw their weight around and bully people into breaking the rules for them. But that's another issue.

Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
No one is saying it's representative or has to be th final plan. This is a plan this group of Palestinians would support. Again the word "support" purposely leaves the door open to other opinions. But Palestinian voices are quite important here.
100
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
I talking about what the word "support " means. It doesn't mean "must".
100
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
And this is party policy now. What people meant or thought when they wrote it or voted for it is now beyond the point. The party's interpretation of the text is the issue. So where it's ambiguous it's up to Zack etc to interpret it.
100
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
No but you can't call for self determination then ay "not these Palestinians". And of course the Palestinians in the region would end up in a mass grave if they called for a single state solution at the moment.
200
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
Well a two state is impossible without either ethnically cleansing millions of Jews or Palestinians from somewhere in the region. So it looks like the total annihilation of Palestinians or peaceful coexistence.

Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
I support women having abortions. That doesn't mean I think that's the only option. To me the wording leaves open other possibilities. I can't think of any that don't involve Apartheid or genocide but someone might have a great idea and the motion doesn't exclude that.
100
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
The state of Palestine hinted at in the motion is not an ethnonationalist state. It requires peaceful coexistence. Israel (as understood by most people)is inherently and ethnonationalist state.
000
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 17h
Thanks for sharing. The policy highlights that Zionism (as understood by most people, as expressed through Israel and as defined in the text of the motion) is ultimately a settler colonial project that is built on ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people. Their experience of Zionism is genocide.

It's worth remembering there is a good thousand years between early and later pyramids. Lot's of different regimes in that time.
010
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 18h
And as for self determination, firstly this was written by Palestinians and secondly there are only two options available now. Peaceful coexistence or total ethnic cleansing. There's no two state solution. There certainly is no way to create a majority Palestinian state that is viable.
110
Ed Poole @edpoole1975.bsky.social · 18h
Yes and my point is it doesn't say what should happen. It is saying would support an outcome that has been off the table for decades. This motion has been combed over hundreds of times for the last year. The word support (rather than call for, demand etc) is very carefully chosen.

And yes I definitely think there is room for improvement on the motion. I think better wording could have been incorporated in the single state solution and amendment 3 without losing the points but ironing out some of the ambiguities.

If people support mass murder of civilians because their ethnicity they probably shouldn't be in the Green party. If the have a book club that reads crime novels but call it Zionist, no one will care and the party has no authority over that.
