I broadly agree with much of this thread but I will say - part of the challenge opponents of this motion had is that the proposers of the motion were completely intolerant, incapable of negotiation in a way that is very alien to Green culture.

Their existence is an important reminder of why Judaism and Zionism must not be treated as interchangeable.

Barnet Green Party rigourously oppposes antisemitism. We have stood in support of our local Jewish community in the face of bigoted attacked, and are proud of our many Jewish members.

We recognise that some people may disagree with the Green Party's position, including some within the party, and they have every right to do so.

What we hope this statement makes clear is that this policy is rooted in our commitment to equality and human rights for all. Palestinian freedom and Jewish safety are not competing principles. Barnet Green Party sincerely believes in both.

I'm proud to have co-proposed this motion. In other "Adrian" news, I was on Cable Street and a scruffy looking man came up to me and said I was in the Green Party. He recognised me for when I came to Norwich and campaigned for the young Councillor Adrian to become MP in 2010.

Majority rule is insufficient as the basis for resolving conflicts. The Green Party promotes non-violent solutions to conflict situations. The interests of the minority and of future generations must be included in non-violent processes of conflict resolution in order to achieve lasting settlements.

Pensioners are the richest UK demographic + have benefited from decades of preferential gov't policy, often at young people's expense. Pensioner poverty is real, but the triple lock is a regressive, inefficient way to address it. Green Party policy is to replace it with inflation uprating and UBI.

but I wonder why the faction Greens for Palestine are packing conference events such as last night's discussion to promote a similar intellectual framework to Israel-Palestine? It seems to me the equivalent of "great replacement theory" and doesn't match with my lived experience of friends & family.

3) Insert a numbered point '5.a' which shall define voluntary migration into Israel as incitement of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians which shall read:

"5.a. Therefore anyone who voluntarily relocates to Israel who was born in a different country, with the intention of permanent residence in and assimilation into Israeli society, is inciting the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by creating a situation where Israel must grow into areas currently lived in by Palestinians to accommodate Israel's population of naturalised aliens. Voluntary migration into Israel is not a neutral decision which exists in a vacuum, it is an instruction to the Israeli government to continue it's policy of expansionism and Palestinian dispossession of land, property and territory in order to ensure living space for it's population at the detriment of the indigenous Palestinian population."
