It's rich to call it "unintended behavior" when they advertise it as the thing that can do anything including save the world from itself. How about establishing an intent and limitations first, buddy.

New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment. www.nber.org/papers/w35854

Taxing Entrepreneurial Wealth: Evidence from
Norway, 2021-2025
Marius A. K. Ring
WORKING PAPER 35854|
DOl 10.3386/w35854
ISSUE DATE October 2026
Whether imposing higher taxes on business owners adversely affects business activity by constraining investment and inducing capitalist flight is a central question in the ongoing debate on how to tax the ultra wealthy. To shed new light, I exploit a series of related Norwegian reforms during 2021-2024 that increased dividend tax rates, removed migration-related capital gains tax loopholes, and nearly doubled the effective marginal tax rate on business wealth. These reforms spurred international debate and, allegedly, an "exodus" of Norwegian billionaires (Financial Times,
2023). While I document clear effects on migration, these responses are concentrated among the top 0.1% of the wealth distribution and mostly confined to 2022 and 2023. My results indicate that at most 100 individuals left due to the reforms. I find no evidence of significant outmigration or reduced inflows of startup founders or inventors. I estimate that absent any outmigration, wealth tax revenues would have increased by 75% from 2021 to 2024. Reform-driven outmigration lowers the revenue gain to 71.5%. My findings further show that outmigrating owners' firms remain economically active and do not reduce investment. In a broader set of analyses, I examine whether business outcomes are affected, regardless of whether owners outmigrate, since firms may reduce investment both due to liquidity constraints or distortions to owners' savings decisions. I compare firms owned by Norwegian individuals subject to the wealth tax with firms owned by foreigners and other tax-exempt entities. By merging historical ownership data from Orbis with the Norwegian shareholder register, I perform these analyses on both Norwegian and foreign-domiciled firms.
Across settings, I find no evidence that Norwegian-owned firms pay out more dividends or invest less after the reforms,…

“Did you too see it drifting all night on the black river? Did you see it in the morning rising into the silvery air?” Odette skateboard for DROP IN: Skate Deck Art Show 🎨

Odette - black& white skateboard design of Odette's transformation and the Swan Maiden in folklore.
Illustration is a football skateboard shape. At the bottom curve is a black border followed by a porcelain edge filigree pattern with dashes/ lines. Inside the curve is a constellation design mimicking the star patterns of Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria known as the "Swan Prince" castle. Grey stars on a white background with fine line ink. Above the border is a metal embossed moon medallion in grey with daisies and a moon. Large stylized white waves morphing into magical energy as they transform Odette are overtop the body of a painted outlined swan turned to the left with its wing folded down with speckled grey patterning mimicking vintage ballet costume patterns.
To the left of the swan is a large silver sacred heart with jewels, radial background, a sword vertically piercing it and an arch with three jewelled stars. Below is a rendered and outlined oval link chain winding behind the elements. To the right of the white swan is a faceted 8 point metal star with fleur de lis arm segments and a large diamond in the middle. Flying through the chain link is a Russian striped folk arrow. Above is the black swan counterpoint Odile flipped in reversed. Over top is a paisley like folk pattern of Russian like embroidery of flowers, vines and curved tear drops in flat toned greys. Above is a matching mirrored medallion of daises but with a sun instead for the time restraints of the spell from the ballet. The top curve is a tangle of branches/dark leaves in black on a lighter black background. Overtop are white fine line inked chamomile flowers in reference to Tchaikovsky's sister Aleksandra who inspired his ballets and the area of Russia they grew up. The border is split into white on the top & black on the bottom. Behind both swans are walls with a tile pattern of black 8 point stars lined in white on a grey background framing an empty space doorway is shaded wall moulding.

yes i dont believe our limits in the physical world are an opposing force against pure creation, they ARE pure creation. if your dream song is performed it in a way that is not 'perfectly' in sync with that dream, then the most honest and beautiful version is the 'wrong' performance, not the dream

I think any like two of these details would be fine and look cool. But this is Too Many Things and they all visually conflict with each other. I need to go do some Link cosplay in Nikki, I guess, which understands when to show restraint. And to not put leather on leather.

When I think of the character traits of Link from Zelda I do not think "the fanciest boi" I think "kid in the woods" or "farmhand." Going to have to make a Link outfit in Infinity Nikki to clear my head, where the cloth knows what cloth is

I agree, most of it looks fine but it's like the major characters all had someone who just did not know when to say the design was done. Even something as basic as all the new decoration on Link's hat. It didn't look like embroidery, all his clothes had the feeling of glossy sculpted plastic.

I have a cat who likes to put his paws up against things and bat stuff off tables to get my attention, so that is a concern. Guess I'll give it a couple days and see if it worries me. But I also found similar shelves on Amazon that are actually metal, so maybe that's just the better idea.

I've been thinking about this at times lately, too. If I was content with an idea being only for me, then there is no reason to create it, because it's already in my head in its ideal form. The entire point of getting it out of there is so it can mean something to other people.

Especially with the resurgence of diet culture I thought had finally started to fade out for a bit. But we have new weight loss drugs, so the pressure is right back on. I feel like decades of feminism have gone straight down the drain and people act like I'm the crazy prude.

We simultaneously have studies demonstrating that people are influenced by what they see in media, both men and women getting unrealistic body ideas...and people claiming that no one is ever affected by the media they consume, and if someone gets the "wrong idea" it was their own fault.
