Gods have been made in our image our entire history; the difference is that, this time, this one actually speaks our language and doesn't have to be translated by expert god-talkers. Cutting out the middle man, what's not to like?

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

This is ridiculous. Everyone knows horses and pterodactyls did not coexist - not by millions of years! George was more likely riding a medium sized ornithopod, theropod, or if he really was blessed, a Maraapunisaurus.

The Youngs do not care to buy music & the Olds now buy less. In ambient music, I see well-known accomplished musicians make $500-$2000 on an album (on bandcamp). It takes 1-2 months to make the music. 5-10k $/year isn't a working income. More music-as-hobby gets made now, which shapes future music.

Happy continued existence of civilization day. Thank you Stanislov Petrov! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisl... TIL the US military were doing Dr. Strangelove maneuvers, 17 years after that movie. 🌏🤡💥🥳 Who was leading? Oh, right! Reagan and Andropov, very thoughtful and logical guys, just like today!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Soviet_nuclear_false_alarm_incident

In mid-February 1981, and continuing until 1983, psychological operations by the United States began. These were designed to test Soviet radar vulnerability and to demonstrate US nuclear capabilities. They included clandestine naval operations in the Barents, Norwegian, Black and Baltic Sea and near the GIUK gap, as well as flights by American bombers, occasionally several times per week, directly toward Soviet airspace that turned away only at the last moment.[2]

"It really got to them," recalls Dr. William Schneider Jr., [former] undersecretary of state for military assistance and technology, who saw classified "after-action reports" that indicated U.S. flight activity. "They didn't know what it all meant. A squadron would fly straight at Soviet airspace, and other radars would light up and units would go on alert. Then at the last minute the squadron would peel off and return home."

Red Delicious USED to be a good apple. It's been around for 100 years; no one keeps a variety that long if it's terrible. The problem is people selected for naturally occurring mutations that made the apples bigger and redder and more shelf-stable but worse-tasting.
