People react in different ways to another pedestrian in a wheelchair. Some people are much more likely to refuse to yield, lean over the chair, hit me (sometimes in the face) with their swinging arms or backpack, cut in front of me, etc. One gender does this more often than others.

I'm very please to announce a public release of my drag-and-drop bookmarking, game-making, and wandering tool Scrubjay! Scrubjay is a weird website builder that lets you cobble together web elements, images, links, text fragments, etc into a series of nested rooms...
"SCRUBJAY" sits over a bunch of images of frogs, birds, doors. it's a very 90s look

his name is lethargic. he's an IRC chatbot I wrote in 2011 and has been through IRC, skype, and is now on discord (in private servers with friends.) the algorithm has been unchanged since the beginning.
Lethargic’s algorithm

Lethargic’s primary response generator uses a bespoke algorithm that uses neither templates nor markov chains.
Take the user’s input:
Hello lethargic, how are you doing today?
Then pick a random message from a dataset of old IRC logs
brb throwing my computer against the wall
Then we interlace these two sentences, one word at a time, excluding ending punctuation:
Hello brb lethargic, throwing how my are computer you against doing the today wallLethargic's algorithm continued
Hello brb lethargic, throwing how my are computer you against doing the today wall
We replace “lethargic” with “me” and other pronouns so that they are inverted (like ELIZA)
Hello brb me, throwing how your are computer me against doing the today wall
Finally we pass this amalgamation into google translate a bunch of times through multiple languages to get our response:
Hey, wait a minute, how's your computer doing today after I hit my head against a wall?

One of the reasons why we 'cant get off our phones' has to do with how we think about urgency and emergency and our inability to figure out what's actually important to know now, know later, or not know at all – everything and anything is now presented as necessary

Something Carney and Trudeau have in common, though, is that they both excel at consolidating international liberal support and deploying that support against people at home. In other words, to oppose Carney, you also have to contend with his global popularity, as was the case with Trudeau.

Yo. This is the union calling for a boycott. Here in America people like to say "Well I was already boycotting Starbucks!" No you were not. You were just choosing not to buy their stuff. That is not a boycott. A boycott is an organized, collective activity. "I" don't boycott: we do.

Harry Clarke illustration for Poe's "Morella". Shows the unnamed saturnine narrator leaning over the prone Morella, both richly and surreally adorned in patterns reminiscent of flowers, mushrooms, seashells, or roots, with a parade of human faces lost therein. The caption at the bottom reads "The earth grew dark, and its figures passed by me, like flitting shadows, and among them all I beheld only—Morella”

Let's make this book a bestseller: Rabbit Farming in the Middle Ages and Beyond: A Landscape History. David Gould. www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/doi/book/10....
Since their introduction to the British Isles after the Norman Conquest, rabbits have successfully colonised the English landscape. Yet the species was not initially wild but was instead reared within manmade warrens for its meat and fur in a form of animal husbandry that was surprisingly widespread and long-lived.

Historical and archaeological approaches allow the spread of rabbits to be traced as more and more English locales hosted those warrens, the physical remains of which are still numerous across the country. This book provides a history and a comprehensive investigation of the types of structures associated with rabbit farming and details how warrens were managed, both on a day-to-day basis and in terms of how they were placed within the landscape.

In contrast to their eventual fate as food for the poor, rabbits were initially bred for the wealthy few and it follows that rabbits would have been viewed differently by past societies. Adopting a multi-disciplinary approach, this volume explores the species’ historic status and discusses associations with conspicuous displays of wealth, Christian symbolism, and female sexuality. It also investigates the extent to which rabbits were simply viewed as destructive pests or as providing opportunities for poaching.
