Really sad news about a tenacious climate advocate, blogger, and communicator. His Climate Progress blog was truly must-read content for year. Joe was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. May his memory be a blessing.

I'm not in his district here in Portland, but I just want to say - @mitchgreen.bsky.social is one of the more thoughtful, curious, creative, and genuinely principled politicians I've ever met. If I were in his district I'd be voting to reelect him with bells on.

In the 25 years since 9/11, the United States has spent $8 trillion+ on wars that have taken millions of lives in the name of fighting "terror." Can you imagine if we had instead invested those funds here on climate, health care, housing, and education?

Started drafting a thread about 9/11 and...I just don't know. My story's not unique. My thoughts scattered. My sadness is vague and wandering. We lost innocence that day, maybe forever? We lost truth in the months that followed. What lessons have we learned? I'm not so sure.

Imagine being upset about a convenient feature that allows you to leave your keys in your pocket and not worry about locking them in the car. Then imagine you've confused this feature for another that saves money at lights by disabling your engine temporarily. This is how stupid Sean Duffy is.

This is multiple levels of dumb. First, Zeldin didn't get rid of the stop/start button, so Duffy is showing he doesn't know what he's talking about. Zeldin the "autostop" feature which stops an ICE engine when at stoplights and similar moments. Second, getting rid of the "autostop" feature is dumb.

A Trump official diverted firefighting resources to a fire on his private ranch. He got 9 aircraft for the 7-acre fire while the 90,000 acre Grasshopper fire in Oregon got about the same. These guys kneecapped wildfire prevention and now they’re diverting what few resources remain for personal gain.

Thankfully we aren't (yet) dealing with extensive smoke here in the PNW, although given the winter we had it feels like it's only a matter of time. Sending solidarity to those across the country waking up to yet another day of orange skies and claustrophobic feelings.
