With alt text. I know someone who actually did this

On my first big overseas client conference, I was at a dinner seated next to a drunk client who kept trying to fondle me under the table. I was young, distressed, and had no idea what to do. I moved my legs as far away from him as I could, moving into the space of the man next to me, who then started patting my legs! The Regional Manager was a French woman who caught my eye, gestured for me to go to the bathroom and when I came back had switched chairs with me. What happed next was epic. A few minutes after I sat back down, she raised her hand with his hand captured in hers and announced loudly "Does anyone know whose hand this is? I found it in my lap." There was dead silence at the table. She threw his hand back at him and said calmly "next time I pick it up with my fork." Then she started a new conversational thread and things moved on. After the meeting she found me, gave me a hug, and said seriously "Never be afraid to make some noise. It is their shame, not yours."

Just finished #WidowsBay on Apple TV with my wife. It's good, a kind of nightmare-of-the-week horror pastiche show in the vein of Eerie, Indiana with a central plot device revolving around the hidden history of the island.

I need centrists to understand that the bar for being the most beloved and effective PM of our lifetimes is in the fucking toilet. Saving the world would be nice but simply making everything merely as shit as they were ten years ago would earn my lifelong loyalty.

oh, god, no, kids will not be forced to eat lentils by the government! fucking hell. firstly, the proposal is that *one meal a week* contain pulses or whole grains *such as* lentils or chicken peas. they could also include barley if those sound too foreign to you.

That's the Overton window moving. People always wanted to do this to RNLI, but now thanks to politicians and the media repeating what they say without question they feel empowered and entitled to do this

the activists should probably be relieved that no-one died trying to cross the channel in that time (and that in any case the RNLI were able to provide continuous cover in spite of the closure, so if anyone did die it wouldn't have been directly due to the activists' actions)...

Yup. Introduced kiddo to the Hitch Hiker's Guide, prompted by her request for more SF (alongside the fantasy we'd been reading). Enjoyed the first three books well enough, fell over partway through So Long, and hasn't asked to return to it. It's all good - we've connected through other stuff.

*sigh* The Muppets (2015) as a TV network show, and Muppets Now (2020) as a streaming service, both tanked in one season. Disney+ ran ONE EPISODE in the classic format, topped the platform's rankings and won four Emmys. This isn't rocket science, my dudes.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.
