It feels a bit like what they did in Mazinger Infinity, only instead of messing with the texture they mess with the silhouette. I'm sure part of it is because all this visual clutter is now readable with modern TVs so it can stand out and not be a unreadable mess but I agree it lacks charm.

I'd love to see Robot Alchemic Drive but between it being owned by Square Enix and the original director working on EDF now I don't see it happening and in the rare case it did I dont see it holding onto what I love about the game.

Even then if they weren't going to redesign the megazord, I remain shocked they didn't just get Toei to ship them the megazord suit and film actual guys in suits fighting behind a green screen as opposed to using cgi. It would have looked a thousand times better.

I feel like once and always was kinda a step in the right direction insofar as doing power ranges sincerely but it was so scared of being anything but mmpr. For a story where Trini, her daughter and Billy are so important I would have thought they could have redesign a megazord that reflected that.

The sad thing is power rangers uses a design language that is so divorced from the popular American Sci-fi aesthetic. Power rangers is steeped toys, their weapons, transformation devices and robots are all toys. I don't see a modern america power rangers happening that isn't gunmetal grey.

Zork is a soulsy boy so he could stand up to a 24 meter tall giant robot Zock on land thanks to I-frames but Zock has a whole lot of lasers, Zork would need the right build to tank all that energy. If the Zock brings the fight to the sea though Zork is done for unless he can fly out of the water.
