“Dune” was translated into Hebrew by Emanuel Lotem, who passed away recently. Lotem left a deep stamp on SF&F in Israel, and while his style was sometimes cause for contention (as in his heavy re-editing of LOTR), it worked particularly well for “Dune”, one of the pinnacles of his career. >

I agree with the sentiment, I think I was six at the time and I had a blast watching it on TV. It gave me the sense for quirky stories with Sci fi and comedy elements.

I recently made a comic complaining that NASA refuses to listen to my good ideas for improving the Solar System (xkcd.com/2750). To my delight, NASA’s Science Mission Directorate has sent me an actual expert panel evaluation of my “flatten the planets” proposal! Sadly, they decided not to fund it.
