look, its fine if there are funny little alien freaks to keep the kid's attention. I just dont want them to take away from the emotional core of the film that this trailer seemingly presents. I want the little alien guys to be a cohesive part of that story AND ALSO be entertaining for the kids.

like, the fact that 90% of the trailer is this lowkey sort of scifi romance drama. its got this sort of flowing, slow-burn pace that builds tension very well and the edits feel cohesive in a way that all of the other trailers just didnt. and then the little alien guys show up and I audibly groan.

it's a different & delayed context, but the whole process of "socializing" boys into men is the process of killing any potential trans girls. that's what all the rejection of "girly stuff" & "effeminacy" and creating brotherhoods to hunt out transfemininity and kill it early is.

the lack of the presence of cis girls isn't contradictory to the lack of the presence of trans girls. of course a society that has fewer cis girls because it tries to prevent them before they exist also builds institutions to prevent trans girls before they exist.

so, rather than hetero-nationalism, every cis girl and trans girl is a survivor of the cessation-of-existence process?
