Out here roasting coffee in my little roaster. This used to be a whole thing for me. The quality jump from store bought is enormous. Then lots of local roasters showed up and I moved on. Recently, the cost has tripled and I can roast better for less $. This is all to say I'm back on my bullshit ☕

Current wip. I need a new hat for the fall. The pattern is Elfdans by Woolly Wormhead. The yarn is a Valentine's Day sock pairing impulse buy from Les Laines Biscotte in merino and nylon. It has a nice folded brim and will have ear-like points. 🧶

Upping my positive reinforcement game. We all got a pad of these useless 'Brave Sightings'. I get the impetus, but the kids really don't care. However, if you tape a little treat to it, suddenly they pay attention. I'm a bit ambivalent about using operant conditioning, but I've got a bus to drive.

A stack of bright green Brave Sightings (BRAVE stands for Bold Responsible Attentive Valued Empowered). You're meant to give these out when a kid is doing something you want to reinforce. I've taped a bright pink wrapped hard candy to the upper corner.

IMPORTANT: at WinCo, in the bulk foods section where you can grind your own peanut butter, they have honey roasted peanuts. You can grind fine or chunky, DOESN'T MATTER. What matters is the resulting butter is FUCKING DELICIOUS. Peanut butter and apple slices stays winning in the snack wars!

When I was volunteering at the COVID19 vaccine POD in 2021, people would say over and over again that they were getting vaccinated for the people they love. Last year, only 17.5% of American adults got the COVID19 vaccine. Please get one for the people you love. 💕

The murder of crows that used to hang out in a nearby copse of Doug firs and absolutely RAVAGE our Asian pears every year hasn't been around yet this summer. It's weird to have a bumper crop of pears without deep gouges out of every one. 🤷🐦‍⬛

I love how this pic of toe pouches on the back cover of the first issue of Purl magazine looks like a micrograph of diatoms ( _Navicula_ sp.). I worked on diatoms for my M.Sc. Two of my most intense nerd loves crossing paths. 🧶🔬🦠 (There's no diatom or any phytoplankton emoji, unfortunately)

I've been knitting and ripping different toe shapes this summer. I'm trying to dial in my sock recipe. I've hardly been much of a sock knitter and I'm seeing if I'd like to be. I like this rounded toe. I made it almost to the heel turn during in-service yesterday. Yarn deets in alt. 🧶🧦 #TAAT
