I think this is an underestimation, if anything. There are 114.2M black and brown people in the United States. Add in the indigenous people from the tribal nations, that goes up to 123.9M. There are also 70M who are disabled, a fair number of whom, such as myself, not black, brown, indigenous, 🧵

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

I’m not going to hail Barrett and Roberts for allowing us to count our votes. It’s a huge win for democracy, but it shouldn’t have even been a question. That we were one vote away from disenfranchising votes is all the more reason to expand the court in 2029.

I really cannot stress enough how a decade ago private business rallied to prevent this from happening in North Carolina and now a well funded campaign against that situation means the federal government will now bar trans people from using bathrooms consistent with their identity.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic. It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today. Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

I've seen many faculty/staff/admin in higher education act like what's happening just requires some tweaks or pivots and that everything will eventually return to normal. It won't. You can't pivot from extortion, hostile takeovers, fascism, spineless leadership, lack of fight, or lack of integrity.

If Trump does go through with his threatened invasion of Venezuela without Congressional approval, that should absolutely be grounds for immediate impeachment proceedings. We would need mass, popular mobilization calling for his removal from office. It has to be a red line.
