I don’t think a 21X increase in the cost to get a tanker out of the Persian Gulf with lower total exports than before the war is an achievement. And I think it’s odd that so much of the press has been covering it as if we should see this as positive, with “Better Than You Think”-style “explainers.”

My most basic take is you can't get to outcomes like this unless you're willing to use your leverage. Impeachment is the leverage. Do one every month on a new set of charges, he's done well over 24 months of impeachable stuff. Keep him on trial the rest of the term, park John Roberts in the Senate.

The Dem message to Trump should be that if he wants ANYTHING from Congress, he’ll have to stop all the flagrant abuses, and that their legislating will be aimed at protecting the public from rogue government. “Common ground” as an opening bid is a terrible posture. www.offmessage.net/p/hakeem-jef...

The columnist's final New York Times column targets progressive governance in defense of Trump, but Connecticut’s civic and education data complicates his argument.

Reupping this post bc more analysts are finally getting that we can't treat Trump as a rational being. I note Iran poses two other intractable psychological dilemmas for him. 1) To beat Iran he would have to confront RU, which he cannot do. 2) To make a deal he would face Obama's superiority to him.

I just viewed 2 Top Secret FISA docs.
1) FISA Court opinion that raises serious concerns about FBI implementation of FISA 702.
2) letter by Senator Wyden describing a secret government interpretation of FISA law.

The NYT says today’s #NoKings protests had “no shortage of skeptics,” and then quoted exactly one of those skeptics: The chairman of the Ole Miss College Republicans (as of 2025.) But of course, the Times doesn’t ID him as such. He’s just a Concerned Youth.
The marches had no shortage of skeptics.
In Oxford, Miss,, Cass Rutledge, a first-year law student at the University of Mississippi, walked through the No Kings protest and around the town square on Saturday and questioned why people thought Mr. Trump was acting like a king.
"He is, you know, a duly elected president who won the popular vote and the electoral college in a landslide," Mr. Rutledge said.
"And so I'm a little bit confused on how he's acting differently than any other president."
He pointed to the stalemate in Congress over the SAVE America Act, the Republican-driven bill to tighten voter identification and registration rules, which Democrats have called an attempt to suppress turnout based on false claims of voting fraud. Mr. Rutledge said that Mr.
