I love to see the Gilbert Scott Building at @glasgow.ac.uk . It's not every day you get to see a rainbow over it.
Photograph of the University of Glasgow's Gilbert Scott Building. It is taken from the southwest and the view is framed by the trees in Kelvingrove Park. A rainbow stretches over the tower of the building.

I do enjoy seeing what prioritising pedestrians looks like on the ground. This really promotes walking and wheeling for everyday journeys.
Photograph of pedestrian crossing. The begging button is fenced in with orange temporary fencing. Some panels have collapsed. The tactile paving is mostly covered. There is also a pallet of wood and some sandbags. The crossing is inaccessible.

I'm putting together some slides and the title page has the word "Glasgow" in it. PowerPoint's design suggestions are all to include photographs of Edinburgh. Don't think I will be going with that suggestion.

That is odd. I wonder what they were thinking. Or what sort of point they were trying to make.

I do the same. It doesn't work well when the best routes would involve moving through this area.

It's taking Google a long time to update their map of the site where UoG has a lot of new buildings. The old hospital was demolished ages ago.

I really enjoyed participating in the Cycling & Society symposium at @glasgowcaledonian.bsky.social this week. I managed to get a photo of @ficrawford.bsky.social presenting our paper looking at how different impairments affect people’s participation in cycling.

A fascinating choice of where to put the crossing and street clutter. Spotted in Strasbourg.

There is something deeply absurd about the modern pedestrian crossing. You press the beg-button and then you wait. And wait. And wait. Interminable wait times reveal a deeper pathology. The pedestrian is, at best, an afterthought - at worst, an obstruction. www.eta.co.uk/news/pedestr...
