I'm completely mystified by all these big name signings at Lidl Trek. Particularly for GC riders, it seems like the org with the least cohesive answer to "what's the plan?"

Language is full of these chicken/egg situations. There was a time when people didn't know what a kilobyte was. People don't know what a kibibyte is because we don't say it enough.

If you're designing a website for a restaurant, my tip would be: making it easy to find the menu is important, a 30-year breakdown of the founder's original vision and evolving philosophy less important.

I already struggle with high-arity functions, so anything that lowers the barrier to high arity terrifies me. I also think that stabilizing default_field_values effectively solves the problems that optional/default arguments would solve, but without the downsides.

I find it so strange when people write blog posts explaining TS intersection types using set theory. The whole reason people are confused by the name 'intersection types' is because they expected them to mirror set theory and they don't.

IMO, the browser UI belongs to the user. Outside of very explicit opt-ins, no 3rd party should be able to mess with their windows, tabs, scrollbars, menus, etc. People have all sorts of accessibility issues and prefs that would never cross your mind.

Been testing this 'sign-language-to-text' (SL2T) for almost a year & it's so awesome to see this out! Looked at this almost a decade ago & knew we'd get the tech & ML models there eventually (but super challenging). Talking w/ some Deaf folks, an equivalent of 'voice-to-text' was huge for them

As a hobbyist, the thing I like least about LLMs is having non-deterministic interactions with computers. Many people take up programming as a hobby because communicating in code is precise/reproducible in a way that everyday human communication isn't. LLMs reintroduce natural language ambiguity.

The current approach to AI is so brutish and inelegant. If someone invented a clothes dryer that dries your clothes in 10 seconds, but it cost 100 USD worth of electricity to run it each time, you would not buy that product. The dryer company paying your electric bill to boost sales is unsustainable

Riders shouldn't be trying to sort this stuff out on the fly. It's up to Red Bull leadership to provide clarity. It looks so petulant and unprofessional for Remco to vent directly to the press like this.

Dusty Pomerleau @dpom.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
For me, the most exciting thing about today is that we will learn whether Remco's approach to #tdf2026 has paid off. I expect Lipowitz to have his usual quiet consistency in the mountains, but depending on how others ride, quiet could be the new loud.

I don't see this going well. They will inevitably end up with an overwhelming mountain of data and turn to AI models for analysis, leading to an opaque process where nothing is ever really proven. It will be terrible for the sport if they sow doubt that they can't back up.

Extreme heat in Europe during #tdf2026 could be very good for Jonas. People are much too quick to count him out. Tadej's recent form is undeniable, but I still think we'll see a proper race.

contest is over, y'all. my colleague already won linkedin
Serhii Tatarintsev's post on LinkedIn:

Recently, I had conversation with a candidate that completely changed the way I think about interviews. Let me explain.

At first, it seemed like they are not a particulary good fit — not a lot of experience in our field, no familiarity with our tech stack.
That is, until I asked one simple question:

“Do you have any references or recommendations?”

“How about a reference from my good friend Ben Franklin?” — candidate winked at me and dropped a neatly arranged stack of bills onto the table.

Needless to say, he was hired on the spot.
So, sometimes it’s not the candidates that fail the interview — it’s you interview process that fails to ask the right question that would let them shine.
Serhii Tatarintsev's post on LinkedIn:

Let's talk about technical interviews.
We all agree that asking engineers to reverse the binary tree on a whiteboard is an outdated approach, right?
But what do we do instead?
Here is my solution.

I ask them to reverse a real tree in my garden.
I now have a whole orchard of upside-down apple trees and a whole team of exceptionally strong engineers. Not a single bug was found in my garden since we changed our interview strategy.

It just shows you that in order to stay ahead in the industry built on innovation you always have to look for novel approaches even for decade-old problems.
