We recently took steps to create emergency kits for our home, including go-bags in case we need to leave quickly. Just a few years ago I would've quietly laughed at anyone doing this as being alarmist. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/o...

This is exactly what ICE said: "Parra-Hernandez ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck." Now watch the video. They're no other word for it: They're lying.

I attended an event last night where @naomiaklein.bsky.social and @astra.bsky.social were discussing their new book End Times Fascism. Great talk. Not a shot at them at all but I walked out of there feeling like I'd just spent 90min doom-scrolling. Feeling almost no hope for our future or planet.

I'm just gonna bookmark this for future reference when Dem pundits complain about how the party has trouble communicating its message to voters. The reason you keep running into trouble with your branding isn't campus radicals. The reason is that your opponents purchased all the media outlets.

BREAKING📢 Crack team of climate scientists show "it is no longer defensible for companies proposing new or extended fossil fuel projects to claim the climate harms will be negligible. Our research shows the harms are, in fact, tangible and quantifiable – and no project is too small to matter"
theconversation.com
For the first time, we linked a new fossil fuel project to hundreds of deaths. Here’s the impact of Woodside’s Scarborough gas project
The results challenge claims that the climate risks posed by an individual fossil fuel project are negligible or cannot be quantified.

These people make Marie Antoinette look connected to the people and empathetic by comparison. They laugh at what their own voters are going through as they continue to mock them as they enrich themselves and have a great time.

Alberta wants to build a new pipeline to the B.C. coast. Before we sign off on billions in public spending, it's worth asking: will there even be buyers? Until September 18, the federal government wants to hear what Canadians think. Tell them to invest in clean energy. buff.ly/q9NYvA9

Nepal is responsible for ~0.05% of historic CO2 emissions. Now, in order to clean up from this disaster, it will likely have to take out high-interest loans from the countries responsible for the lion's share of CO2 emissions. This is like a criminal getting paid to clean up his crime scene.

We can't meaningfully address clinate change without leaders who are willing to ignore short-term corporate interests. The French Revolution has much to teach us about how to deal with leaders who ignore the well-being of their people.

There is no piece of paper you could sign that is going to get Trump off our backs. There is no way to secure the illusion of business certainty in this political environment. It’s fantasy.

I still can’t wrap my head around heatwave/drought news articles that don’t mention climate change. The best this article can do is say “this has been a year like no other”. Heatwaves are hotter because of climate change, predominantly driven by burning fossil fuels. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

You can't put the genie back in the bottle. AI is here to stay. What you can do is get ahead of it by creating robust rules governing its usage. Protect people against the obvious abuses and be prepared to update these regs as the landscape evolves. Otherwise why have a "Minister of AI"?

Forcing people back to the office was never about productivity. It’s about maintaining the hierarchy of offices. When people are productive when they work from home, that triggers the insecurities of people whose jobs were basically looking over workers’ shoulders.
