Urgh, I’m so sorry that you’re faced with the prospect of shitty people who don’t even like you existing being your elected reps. Should not be that way.

110

It shouldn’t be this hard!!

010

Absolutely cannot wait for this ridiculous local council election to be over.

I’m not sure there has ever been more competition for the bottom spot on my ballot.

Morning buddies, last chance to chip in on this before I place the order today 🙏🏻 appreciate any reshares if you’re not in a position to donate yourself. Blown over by people’s generosity as always.

Morning! I am having to remain secret squirrel about current reads because I’m on a judging panel - can’t wait to be back at the regular book chat in a couple of weeks though! The last book I read before starting that though was a re-read of The Instant by Amy Liptrot.

I’m placing a second order for this person - of some blankets and cushions for the kids to sit on. She is teaching a total of 200 kids, in small groups through the week, and at the moment they are all on bare, uncarpeted floor. If anyone is able to chip in a few dollars that would be fab ❤️🙏🏻

Nobody warned me how nice it would be when all the years of nagging and prodding paid off and suddenly you have a kid who is a genuinely lovely and helpful person to live with. (This post prompted by the sound of him hoovering the house without being asked at 8am on a Saturday 😂)

just remembered this NYT correction for @jillian.bsky.social, a halloween special

Correction: October 31, 2013
An earlier version of a tweet in this column misstated the name of its writer. As her Twitter handle correctly noted, she is Jillian C. York, not Chillian J. Yikes! (That is a pseudonym she created for Halloween).

Palestinians have been shouting about the "decisive plan" referenced in this article since 2017. I'm glad Israeli allies are using their privileged positions to bring this to light. But why does it require an Israeli in the NYT to believe what we've been saying? www.nytimes.com/2026/09/14/o...

I am fine to keep going with monthly grocery help for this family and one other - and I get generous support for that from @greigforbes.bsky.social - but as every freelancer knows cashflow can be tricky and I can’t help with this request in one whack.

Ruth Dawkins @dorkymum.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

A favour to ask ❤️🙏🏻 if you’re in a position to help out - any contribution is so useful - drop me a message.

Hey friends! A big favour to ask!
There is a displaced Pal family in Cairo I have been helping out with groceries & rent for the last couple of years. I am completely able to vouch for them.
The mum used to be a teacher and has taken on the task of running classes for many displaced children in the community who can't access other schools.
They would like my help to buy them a printer for printing out classroom resources.
It's the equivalent of $300 AUD.
Would anyone be willing to help me chip in and fund this?
